I love metal, but I basically just love the instrumentation and not the pointless screaming...
eg I love Bullet for my Valentine because they actually *sing* (most of the time) instead of scream.
Any other bands like that?

Dope is really good. Atreyu, Disturbed, Finger Eleven, Kidneythieves, Korn, Machine Head, Mudvayne, Mushroomhead, Nine Inch Nails, Otep, Static X, and System Of The Down are some good bands. You can go to Amazon.com and type in the band name and they'll let you listen to clips of songs off of their CDs.

Pantera, check out their song Cemetary Gates, Phil has a great voice, can't go wrong with Dimebag's riffs
Sevendust can have some useless screaming, but Lajon has a great voice
Skid Row.......I know hair metal, but Sebastian's vocals are awesome
Alice in Chains - very melodic, Layne & Jerry were a great team
Black Label Society - Zakk Wylde, nuf said

Something instrumental: Vinnie Colaiuta's band. I think it's called Karizma. But type Vinnie Colaiuta. It gets the best results : )

If you like metal, the quintessential metal band is Judas Priest. DEFINITELY hard-driving metal, but Rob Halford is a classically-trained singer who doesn't just scream. Iron Maiden would be another good choice (Bruce Dickinson is another classically-trained singer who doesn't just scream). Queensryche would be another band to check out.

and also u gotta try : Muse , Radiohead
and u'll find them singing

Evanescence is classified as "metal". Amy Lee is the lead singer, and she doesn't really scream, but she does have a powerful voice.
