Did you have an unusually short/long labour time? Also, how many births had you had previously? Natural birth or epidural?

1st labour 0-10cms dilated in less than 30 mins born in less than 1 1/2 hours start to finish

2nd labour born in just over 1 1/2 hours from start to finish

Both very quick and very easy births with no pain relief either times.

I was induced with both of mine. The first one I was hooked up at 6:00 am and I didn't feel anything until about 11:00 am and at noon the doctor can in and broke my water and then at 12:30 the epidural (sp?) was done and, I had her at 1:47. My second girl I got to the hospital at about 7:30 am and got hook up to the putosin (sp?) and my water was broke at about 12:15 and right after the epidural was hooked up and when they laid me back down from that the doc, checked me and said please wait til I finish my rounds, as soon as he walked out of the room, the head was coming out. The epidural didn't even have time to work. I had very short labors. I was in hard labor with the first for about an hour and with the second maybe a half and hour.

With my first baby my labor was 6 hours long and had an epidural-then the Dr. gave it to you and he couldnot get the right spot and that was more painful than labor!!

I had two more babies with NO epidural and the labor with them was about three hours a piece!

My experience with an epidural was HORRIFIC and I decided then I would rather not have one at all not to mention that b/c he stuck me so many times in my back with that huge needle-I now have back problems and that was 11 years ago.

My longest was my first, 4 days. Back labor. Tried drinking castor oil (don't recommend that) and the labor started but didn't progress. Ended up with a pit drop and demorral. Second one was about 12 hours. Had an epidural that time. Didn't like it, couldn't push. Third one my water broke but labor didn't start. Got a pit drop and stadol and baby was born 3 hours later. That was the shortest and easiest...and last one.

I have had three babies and surprisingly my last was the worst.

Labor #1: 23 Hours
Water broke at 3:30 am on due date. Went to hospital. Started Pitocin drip. Labor started soon after. In labor until 2:33 am the next day when she was born after two hours of pushing. Had Stadol for pain relief. She was blue and needed to be suctioned and get oxygen. She was fine luckily.

Labor #2: Six hours
A week and a half late. Went to hospital for induction. Induced at 10:00 am. Contractions started at noon. At 6:20 was 6 centimeters. Doctor broke water and went home. Thought it would be a couple more hours. At 6:30 felt extreme urge to push and could see my stomach moving. She helped push her way out. At 6:47 here comes baby. Nurses had to deliver her. There was a snow storm and the doctor could not get back in time. I did not have any meds with her even though I wanted too. She came too fast.

Labor #3 28 Hours.
My labor started about 2:00 in the afternoon... hard contractions all about 5 minutes apart. I went to the hospital and they sent me home because I was not progressing. Then the next day I went back again in the afternoon. They decided to keep me. I was 3-4 centimeters. Then they had me walk and walk. I was in so much pain. They induced me and broke my water. I had some Morphine this time towards the end. He came out at 9:34 pm after 28 hours of hard back labor and with the help of forceps. His fat head got stuck in the birth canal.

All of my babies were born looking up instead of down and this caused a lot of back labor with all three.

My shortest was 4 hrs 25 min. and my longest was 3 days. I had all of my kids natural, no epidural with any of them. All of my kids were born in the 80's and they didn't give epidurals back then. They even made you lay flat on your back with no pain meds and I had back labor and was very painful. I had 7 kids.

My daughter, which is my only child so far, her labor was 2 hours and 15 minutes from start to her being out. It was so fast, I was only at the hospital for 60 minutes before she was born. The pain was intense, and I did have some Stadol through my IV, but no epidural.

I have short labors, my first was induced and it was about 4 hours.
My second was less then one hour (I barely made it to the hospital)
The third was about 2 hours

I had epidurals with all my kids...I refused to push until I had epidurals with the last two! They weren't all the way kicked in, but I still had them.

First child was born 8 weeks premie by c-section. Labor was on and off for 3 days and they couldn't stop it.

Second child delivered vaginally but used some pain meds. 13 hours.

Third child, woke up at 5:30 am with contractions 15 minutes apart. 6:30 decided to go to hospital. Dropped off older children at grandmas house and started 45 minute drive. 35 minutes later Jeffrey was born in car. Thats about as natural as you can get. ;) (Husband said he wished they had all gone that easy ;) )
