My girlfriend has two weeks old and she insists that her baby can roll over. I have 4 months old boy and he started rolling over just about a week ago. Can two weeks old really roll over? My son did it like twice when he was couple weeks old, when he was screaming and moving his hands and legs, but he didn't do it on purpose and she says that her baby is really trying to roll over.

Chances are the 2 week old rolled over by accident. Regardless of how much your friend wants her child to be advanced, a 2 week old is far too weak and immature to understand how his arms, legs and body move to roll over.

No, a 2-week old will NOT roll over on purpose. Most kids won't master that until 3 months at the earliest.

OK this is a hard one...babies can extend themselves and flip themselves over on accident. They usually aren't trying to roll themselves on purpose. She might not know that they can extend their bodies and flip. It isn't a willfull movement though. My son at 5 weeks started rolling over but I think it was a mistake the first time and after that he did it on purpose a couple of times. Then he stopped doing it unless I layed him to sleep on his back, then he would roll to his tummy (which scared me)! He is now 4 months and a couple of weeks and just started rolling himself again (besides in his sleep). Every baby is different but I think she is just uninformed. Either that or her baby is the smartest baby in the world! haha

Maybe accidentally, but a 2 week old baby does not have the motor skills to roll over on purpose while on a hard surface. She may be talking about on a bed, and that doesn't count.

FaZizzle is correct. They CAN but it's not on purpose adn not somethign they will repeat AT WILL. They may dol it again but until they figure out exac tly what theyve done-which a 2 week old does NOT have the ability to do, it won't be a repetative thing with an intentional purpose. Both of my children did that but neither was on purpose, neither knew what the heck had just happened nor why.

No, i would say that the baby is rolling over by accident. Most babies don't have control over there muscles for several months. I don't think either of my girls rolled over consistently until they were five months or more.

i don't think of it somewhat is odd with the aid of fact babies don't have entire administration of their eyes at 2 weeks and because their creative and prescient is blurred their eyes do not continuously concentration precise. yet i could examine out different symptons. Does she bypass inflexible? Twitch? end respiratory? those issues could sign a seizure. If she is performing general however the eyes basically roll returned, yet she self corrects and acts general the it is going to be ok. perfect element to do is attempt to capture her doing it on video then teach it on your pediatrician. probability is it is not something. babies have little administration of the pinnacle, neck and eyes at 2 weeks whether it never hurts to have a video for the wellness care expert to envision out.

You women need to find something else to do that compete over who's baby farted first. Just be glad your baby is alive and stop fretting over the tiny bits of progress. Her baby may roll-over first, but he'll also be the first one diagnosed with ADD and be wearing his mother's shoes to school. Now go put the baby in the stroller and go for a walk.
