4 seems like a good place to end it at being as though they have rarely gone to the the Carribean if ever in the three movies plus the ending suggest another installment I think.

I would like to see a 4th. Me and the kids love the movies. I do have to say 3 confused me. There were too many loyalty changes, i still enjoyed it though.

In an interview to Screenwriter Terry Rossio he said the following when asked about another sequel to POTC:
"It's like the fourth Indiana Jones picture - there are forces in play to make it happen, and forces in play to make it not happen. I think we will try to write a screenplay. I can't say if we'll be able to solve the challenge of making a good fourth film, or if our screenplay will be enough to get a film made."

I have been wondering this same thing! There were only to be 3 movies but the ending of the last one really left an opening for a fourth .......Of course the nature of the pirates would leave them on a course of adventure but still......I would watch them all try to locate the fountain of youth and I would love to see Jack with the black pearl..........so in a way I hope so!

I hope there is a fourth because the third left me wanting questions answered. I have heard many rumors that there wont be a fourth because the actors are tired from filming the other three without a break. Hopefully they take a break and give us one last one to finish the series.

well in the dvd release, they said originally they were only gonna make the one! then the syudio changed it mind when it went so welland so they had to reorder everything and write a beliveable script in a hurry! there is nothing official, as they havent contracted the actors,, so they may be too busy with other contracts/movies. generally sequals have to be planned before the actors find new jobs, otherwise, its impossible to get them all to be free from other movies at the same time.
i guess the answer is unknown officially, but we can hope.
they may just quit whilst their ahead tho!

Yep! Hollywood needs the money. With enought greed I be sure to see POTC 12. Look at Rocky! Plus Rambo's coming out again. This time in a wheelchair.

well i think there probably will be i read somewhere and i don't know if the source was reliable or not but it said that they wanted to make seven but they weren't sure... and johnny depp and orlando bloom said that they are willing to do as many pirate movies as they want them to.... if they do make a fourth i think it will be on the quest for the the fountain of youth, and jack will prolly want to get back the black pearl.... i'd also want to see what happened to tia dalma..... ohhh and if you stayed to see this little clip on the after credits it shows that elizabeth has will's child, and he comes back after ten years, and you see the semi grown kid, and what supposedly happened according to producers is that if the captain of the flying dutchman returns to land and his one true love has remained faithful then the curse is broken, and he will be able to remain on land i think....

I don't think so. They pretty much wrapped up the roles of the characters played by Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly (sorry, can't remember the characters' names). I doubt they would try to sell another movie solely on Johnny Depp's character.

There was a lot of confusing stuff in the third one (like what happened to Tia Dalma?). And the ending leaves it open for another one. So there probably will be.

well you never know, disney might make another one. there's already a 4th indiana jones, a 4th die hard, why not a 4th pirates. hey harry potter is going for 7, pirates 4 should be a piece of cake.
