Your county Court system will have a list of lawyers that will work for a reduced or free rate. You will have to prove that you meet certain financial qualifications first though. Good luck.

As a couple have already said, try legal aid. They will charge you something, usually they put a caveat on property if you own property and if you ever sell it, they will be paid what is owed, but you don't have to pay anything else in the meantime. Also, yeah someone else was saying try a "no win, no fee" firm. Most of these firms will only take your case on if they know they can win it, after all, no one like working for free! hehe. At least that way if there are any costs involved, at worst, your partner may be ordered to pay them.

Either contact your locallegalaid or hire a Paralegal who is just as good as the attorney and costs a whole lot less. The Paralegal does the attorneys paperwork anyway so is a better low cost choice. Check the yellow pages
