land. Tortoises that live in hot, dry habitats use their strong legs to dig burrows. Then, when it’s too hot in the sun, they slip underground.

True tortoises have front legs that look like an elephant's legs- thick, straight, and they sort of look like they are walking on their toes or a stump.

Turtles that live mostly on the land (like American Box Turtles) have regular 'turtle-looking' feet with no webbing, but then, some aquatic turtles don't have much webbing either.
