buy stuff from me. my friends and i want to go to camp this year (me, almost 16, David, just turned 15, and Jerry, 12, David's little brother), so instead of sitting on our butts complaining that we have no money we decided to earn it. we made a list of things that we can bake and are going around our church taking orders from people then we are going to bake and deliver the goods in june. we need $480 (plus extra for spending money), and have approx. 1 month to make it, they (my friends) live an hour away from me (we meet and talk at church). everybody we ask are only buying 1 $5 item. they won't buy any of the $6, 7, or, 8 goods, or more than 1 $5 item. we are not going to make it. how can we get them to buy more. we're kinda desperate here.

You could explore www.cafepress.com. It is a website designed for two purposes. One group, like me, simply uses it to buy people's products. The other group are people who set up online stores and sell products.

Ask the church if you can use the facility for a yard/bake sale. People are much more likely to buy baked goods if they are right there in front of them, looking all tempting. You and your buddies (with help from your parents, of course!) all clean out your closets and gather things for a yard sale. Your parents may have some things they'd like to chip in as well. Advertise with signs and with an ad in your local paper. Bake up all your goodies and sell them at the yard sale, too. Instead of trying to sell a whole cake for $5.00 (or whatever) you can sell a single slice for .50 or even $1. It would be better to make things that can sell well individually, like brownies, cookies, cupcakes, lemon bars, etc.

Edit: The car wash idea is really good, too. Also, you can do a pet wash.

Good for you!! One thing to understand is you must believe in what your selling....give away some free samples, mix up your baking goods and sell them eg a tray of 2 cookies, 2 squares, and two pieces of cake for $5. Also, instead of doing the $5 thing sell for $4.95 or 5.95....people just naturally think they are getting a deal. Have a lot of different stuff and maybe have a history note with it, eg if any of the kids bake something from a different country say where its from and give any special info. on it (google it). Putting some signs up saying why you need the money might encourage others to buy as well. Just make sure you can fill all the orders you take and on time.

cafe press is kinda difficult to navigate though, and as a 16-year old, technically, you're not allowed to sign up on it. It seems like you may have to branch out from simply baked goods. Why not have a 2-day car wash where the three of you wash cars for a fee? You could also babysit or offer to run errands for neighbors for an hourly fee. Perhaps cooking and baking is the way to go, but maybe your neighbors want different goods? What about making pizzas to order? These are just ideas. I hope you raise enough money to go to camp. Good luck!

You must open up your opportunities. How about house cleaning? Many people are willing to hire you to do work. Post a card at the church or local shopping center. Offer to do house cleaning, lawn mowing, etc. You may not make enough profit doing baking due to the expense of the ingrediants etc. Talk to as many people as you can about your need to earn money. You just might be surprised what is available.

I think that you should take your little bake sale to your school or to people you know around town too. If you just ask the people at you church you are not going to get to far. So see if any body else you know would like to help you out. If you really want to go on you trip you would try this idea to help you get to your goal.

Try advertising ask one of your neighbor's across the street to 'buy' the $8 items and act like it tastes good and you know sort of show it off like everytime somebody comes around and asks what is that ? Just say I brought it from the girl across the street. This makes very good advertisement but you should try pawning some junk for los oof money fast. It doesn't sound like you'll make your goal but give it a shot. good luck.
