I'm a 17 year old & currently study in India (11th grade, Science) & am looking for a great culinary school here or abroad.I Need some specific information (a brief review would be great!). Firstly, does repeating an year (couldn't make it in Mathematics) mean I can't get into a top-notch institute?

I want to know how is your culinary prowess tested ? (I have no professional experience) Which standardized tests are usually accepted and what if I can't give some of them ? (The ACT's for example)

While I’ve been told I’m a good cook, I have no idea how I figure in professionally. Moreover, what I can make is not a very long list, and quite eclectic too. I can do most basic cooking operations well, & some advanced ones too, but most of this is in the scope of Indian cooking. Is this OK? Also, I’m a teetotaller and a vegetarian (no aversion to cooking meat-based items or even tasting them though). Will this be a deterrent to admission?

Lastly,how can I get a scholarship?

The two most famous culinary arts schools in the USA are the Culinary Institute of America in NY and Johnson & Wales University (several campuses around the US)

These schools have full programs to teach every detail of the culinary arts, as well as to give students a university education at the same time. Check their websites for details.
