children are more prone to seeing spirits (ghosts or creatures from the other realm), many times they will grow out of it, or it will be a fleeting stage. if she has the "gift" (or curse to some) of sight, be there for her. she will start seeing more and more, not all of them pleasent, and she will have to learn to control it on her own, telling her they arent real will make her think shes crazy, but like wise saying, oh yea theyre everywhere, cant get away from em. would not be a wise thing either, so just listen and comfort as best you can if she turns out to be able to see them.
on the other side of the coin (as always, there is multiple sides to every thing, so maybe the saying should be "on another facet of the rubiks cube"?) she could have seen it as a mental conjured image of grief, she could have overheard others. only she knows.

At the age of 4 a person usually doesn't know what death or a funeral is, so I highly doubt she knew someone died.
I also agree that she probably really saw him. Like the other people I think you should ask her what she saw. It's true that children see ghosts more often. When you get older people around you keep saying things like that don't exist. Your ability to 'really' see gets blocked by all those 'facts'. If you don't believe in something you can't see it.
You also felt something so it can't really be a coincidence, can it?
And I really hope some people will become a bit more mature someday. I'm talking about the people who instantly answer with things like: "You're such a moron, ghosts don't exist!" They obviously don't respect people that have different beliefs.
I don't believe ghosts are the work of demons. Demons probably have better things to do than reassure people that their loved-ones are ok.
Have a nice day, everyone! ^-^

I think sure it could have been his spirit that your young cousin saw. I have been investigating the paranormal for many years and i hear stories like this often. Although a four year old does not behave in such a manner and to do so is nothing normal about it.
As for the so-called skeptics, I hope you do not allow their hateful actions to bother you. I do question their own motives as true skeptics are searching for paranormal activity many who have commented do not appear to be searching for proof but rather just denying anything that happens that isn't normal and claiming it is normal. By doing so they have clouded their own minds to just dismiss any claims, makes one wonder why they are so driven.
The truth of the matter is that not everyone is going to see something paranormal. If it were so easy then there would be tons of evidence. I say if they truly want proof then they should spend the time and effort at debunking it in person and less time consumed with denial. But we that believe know they won't do this they want someone to hand them proof so they can try to find ways to say it isn't real or it was faked.
But all that aside your cousin could very well have a gift and then again it could have been a one time thing. Spirits do not work on cue and they do not have to prove themselves.
I am not telling you that you should believe or not believe no that is for you, yourself to decide but I do hope that you allow your mind to remain open. Don't fall too deep into the paranormal that everything you may see that is out of place appears to be paranormal. keep your wits about you and try to debunk because it is true that a lot of what people believe to be paranormal can be just normal everyday events or the mind playing tricks on you.
Cool story by the way thanks for posting it.

There are two possibilities. Either you were sad and she was talking to your dad or she saw your great-grandpa.
The"other world" is the astral plane. Just a different part than MOST psychics go to. In the astral plane there is the human plane where you are a spirit on Earth and only certain people can see you. And the Astral Plane which is a different world all together.
The spirit one is more likely. Spirits like to stay on Earth a little while longer.

Dont know ....Four Years Olds are quite bright and thats the age they develop their memory and ability to recal...
I can tell everyone that I was four years old but not three and its likely because she was at the funeral she got the message that someone had died and probably her great grandfather and thats the reason for this celebration..
I remember attending my aunts wedding when I had just turned four and my parents didnt explain to me anthything because you dont do that to kids.. I remember being picked up and carried around alot by people and getting ready and going in the car somewhere and then by that time we were at a hall and there were alot of overdressed people so I knew this was a special occassion and then I hear the ceremony and knew we were at the wedding and then seeing pink cake and being fed this delicious pink cake.....then I fell asleep only to wake up and find everyone hurtling toward the exit as the bride left and realised the bride was my aunt and that she was my dad younger sister ...all this i learnt by myself without having a conversation...
Her not knowing there was a funeral...have you asked her?
But her seeing ghosts ....some people can and it happens to women mainly at al ages...

It may be possible. The Jews believe that a persons spirit will hang around for a few days before going to Abraham's bosom.
The Bible says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. But it does not mean that a human spirit cant linger for a while here on Earth. I dont believe that a human spirit can stay on Earth too long for after death comes the judgment.
The spirits that we associate with a haunted house are demons playing out the role of people they hung around for they want to feel something. So they playout the role of a human for we have feelings. Different devils have different motives so some are passive in their hauntings and some are violent.
So can you see a loved one after they die? Probably for a while if God chooses.

You should have asked her what she saw.
Yes Spirits can be seen from time to time by some people.
No scientific explanation, I saw my dead father twice
Once in the trauma center, where I introduced him to everyone, no I did not have a head injury. He stayed until my mother got there and just left.
Again, I was going to check on a friend that everyone suspected may have taken or was going to take his own life.
On the way up the driveway someone grabbed me on the shoulder, fairly hard, no one was there. I heard my dad say " you are too late, but be careful" The man was on the ground 10 feet in front of me, but he wasn't quite dead yet and still had the shotgun in his hands pointed in my direction. I got out of the way and possibly his reflexes made him pull the trigger , but I was missed.

My father was killed in an accident shortly after I was born.
From the age of 4, my mother tells me that I started to question her about the `man in the hallway` who was always there when I was put to bed. After weeks of this, it gradually happened less and less to the point where it actually stopped happening.
Approximately six months after this, when we were moving house, I apparently saw my mum packing her wedding album into a box and instantly recognised the `man in the hallway` as the man in the photographs she was looking at? Is it possible that I actualy saw my dad almost 4 years after his death despite having never known him?
I guess no-one will ever know and it hasn't happened since although it has always been the subject of hot debate at family gatherings.
My feelings therefore are that yes, it is highly possible that your cousin could see something/somebody that nobody else couldn't - children have no concept of what they should and shouldn't be seeing at that age.

Unfortunately this is so typical of those who believe in the "paranormal". A four year old makes a random comment (as four year olds tend to do) and you jump to the conclusion that she can see ghosts. Wow, that's a pretty cut and dried case. No other evidence is needed. If that is all the more evidence you require to believe something I have a bridge you might be interested in buying.

Why would your four year old cousin talk to the wall?
I believe that children unlike adults have not disconnected to the real existence of the other world. My niece said things to my dad at age four that just floored me. He said to her that he would see her when she was grown, she didn't know that he had lung cancer, he did not wear any apparatus or anything, yet she replied, no, you will be dead by then. The bible is replete with stories of spirits coming and going, should it be any different now?
