Bride & Prejudice (with a B for Bollywood) - it's the only DVD I keep on going back to frequently, even when my collection includes Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, I Robot, Gladiator, Lion King, The Rock etc.
Let's see - you've got the musical numbers No Life Without Wife, Kites Without Strings, and Ashanti on stage in Goa, plus you have the flying saris at the Garba, some great comedy moments, and best of all you still get Aishwarya Rai in 'that' red suit at the wedding.
And yet just underneath all of this very sexy entertainment, you still get a serious study of men and women, the few and the many, and East and West, and all based on a classic British novel! This is still then the best Bolly Holly crossover yet, achieved by combining the best of both worlds, to produce a full on British comedy musical, and a film of our times.
As Nitin Ganatra said “The Rhythm ... Is Going To Get You”.

Oh my goodness! Too many in various genres for me to pick just one!
I would say some of my high-lights are:
Aliens
Empire Strikes Back
Rocky
Wild At Heart
House of a Thousand Corpses
I can't argue with you that Lord of the Rings is an amazing film and was one of the best book to film adaptations (especially of such an epic adventure) yet.

Holy Jesus!!
It is dreadful to read such stupid movies as favorite movie ever. America has plenty of fantastic directors and actors and you only choose some american pie or armaggedon craps.
Come on!!
Casablanca, Lost highway, Planete of the Apes (1968) and 2001 space odysee are definitely out of ranking then..
then to raise the level of category it would be of course Star Wars: Empire strikes back

Monty Python & The Holy Grail, one of the highest grossiing films in history stemming from a very low production budget, hence, the coconuts clapping instead of real horses. The movie is hilarious and fit the low budget into the theme of the film... some say it's stupid, I thnik time has showned that it was brilliant!

my favourite movie Without a doubt is LOTR. I mean what more can you ask for in a movie. It has everything Romance, Action, Comedy, great actors and brilliant special effects. It also doesnt stray far from the original text of JRR Tolkiens masterpiece. You cant say that really about any other books that have been turned into movies can you.
