Nothing. I started to go this route with my daughter shortly after she was born and was absolutely appalled. Toddlers in makeup and waist cinchers, parasite parents who live off their children, little girls screamed at by rabid parents for making a mistake in their routines.....it was a horror show. After the first day, my husband and I said screw this and went to disney world.

In my opinion, Absolutely nothing. Putting a little Girl in a Beauty Pagent is like telling her that her looks are her best atribute, and what really counts. It teaches her that she has to attempt to be perfect. When I was 6 years old My mother entered me in the Little Miss Indiana Beauty Pagent at the fair..and I won. But My mom never moved forward with the pagents becuase she noticed that it had bad affects on me. Those pagents put an extreme amount of pressure on little girls to be perfect..and I think that it affects them later on in life. I look at my pictures and I didnt even look like a little Girl. They even made fake vaneers to slide over my real teeth to make me look perfect. I mean seriously..that dosent send a very good message to a little girl. Starting little girls put in pagents is just a bad idea. Its expensive...and not good for the little Girl. They will have enough pressure about how they look later on in life when they get older..I think parents just need to let their kids be little girls. Run around out side..Get dirty and do what little Girls do. Not put them in some superficial pagents. And um ..Remember the little Ramsey Girl that was put in pagents from a very young age?..I to this day belive that she would still be here if she was not put in pagents that young and in the public eye. There are to many bad things about putting a kid in a beauty pagent..That I can think of no good things...at all.

There's absolutely nothing! Its a set up for little girls to become cocky, conceited, and mean later in life. I said this on your other question but anyway, I was watching this documentary on VH1 where these little 5-6 year old girls were in pagents. It was so CRAZY. They had fake tans and teeth now thats extreme! The parents wouldn't even allow some of them to eat certain things (which leads to anorexia/bulimia later in life). Plus they wore very skimpy revealing swimwear and dresses(what are they trying to make them out as whores later in life?). And those were just babies! Imagine what they do with teens! I actually don't think pagents are for little girls. Those little girls will probably grow up to be very conceited as they are now! As in the Jon Benet case I think that some sick guy stalked her and watched her at her pagents in the skimpy dresses and bathing suits raped and killed her. Its SO sad I know but it will happen again if it doesn't stop. The LEAST they can do is cover up the children!

I can't honestly think of one single thing.
The way these people dress up their children.
They put them in clothes and swimsuits made for women in their 20s and prance then around in front of perverts to pick to "hottest" 6 year old.
It's disgusting.
They cake their faces in makeup and use so much hairspray on their hair that it doesn't move at all.
These parents are teaching their children that they need to be perfect and look beautiful like a grown woman when they're only kids.

To be honest with you...nothing. When little girls get into beauty pageants they start wearing tons of makeup! Also, they are always worried about their hair and nails. National American Miss is a better choice. It is not judged by beauty it is judged by how well you can present your self. I was in the 2006 Missouri Pre-Teen pageant and I met a girl that was in beauty pageants....when i looked at her picture in the program she looked like a barbie doll

When I was younger I did one pageant, so I def. wouldn't describe myself as a pageant kid by any means, but in fact I did enjoy participating that one time. I totally disagree with making a child's entire life and self-esteem revolve around the pageant circuit; however being able to do it once was really fun for me. I got to learn a dance routine (I was into dancing, so that was fun), I got to pick out a gorgeous dress, I made many many friends, and I got a sweet crown and trophy. It's only good, I suppose, if your parents are like mine- they didn't put any pressure on me or express disappointment when I came in 2nd. They didn't "train" me for my interview or anything, they told me to be myself. It was a really fun few days and I got to be proud of my accomplishments and feel like a princess.

Nothing. These pageants are a for relatively small percentage of young women and old men who take an interest.
Let children be children.

the only thing good about beauty pagents for little ones is they do learn poise and respect quicker than they would any other way.

Can't think of anything. Let girls be girls, not little dolls. They have plenty of time to be paraded around as pieces of meat.

putting makeup on little girls is disgusting. beauty is more within, not just putting on a "pretty" face.
