Love is a personal, emotional, irrational attachment to another human being. Extreme fondness would be another term for it. I think that much of what humans understand about love is served up by different media (books, movies, TV, magazines). In that respect it's just a cultural term. It's a convention--something that isn't necessarily real, but rather an ideal.

there are many types of love but the rarest is true love. often many people mistake infatuation with love and then in a couple months or year when they no longer feel the butterflys or the longing in there belly they think they have fallen out of love when in reality they were never in love to begin with. how do you know when you are in love? its simple are you willing to die for that person? or if that person was in an accident would you stay with them and take care of them even if they could never move again? would you always love them even if they messed up and you had to leave them for your own sanity would you still love them anyway? if you can answer yes to any of these questions then you are probably in love congratulations.

Yes i have seen love between my parents. Love is when you put someone else's happiness before your. Love is when you ache because someone you love hurts- When you want only the best for someone and go the extra mile to try and obtain it for them. And when someone dies a little piece of you dies too.

Love is a feeling and a state of mind. I have seen love in my husband's eyes, it is incredible. I never thought myself worthy until I met him. Love changes everything and can heal any wound.

I see that most who responded are looking at romantic love. I think that is the most obvious response, but not necessarily the correct one. Love is the selfless giving up of one's own comfort or possessions or strength to the one who is loved. Therefore, yes, I see this every day and so, thankfully do you. I see it in the mother or father who gets out of bed in the middle of the night and walks a crying baby who is cutting teeth and lovingly coos to them and holds them and worries about them. I see it when a man sits by the bed of his wife, day after day, in the long-term care facility, knowing she will never regain consciousness. He just wants to be there to ensure her comfort and that she is well taken care of. I see it when a child gives his or her lunch to someone who is hungry and has no lunch. I watch it daily, on the news, when our soldiers give their lives to protect us. Now, whatever your politics, that, to me, is a selfless act of love.
