Did your reply include..."MY HUSBAND NEVER DOES"?
That sentence is probably what has got him going. Frankly, I probably would've done exactly the same thing (although my husband can be so clueless, he probably wouldn't have reacted). It's one way, albeit not a real nice (or apparently effective) one, of letting your husband know how you feel. (Again, I'd have done the same; I've been that ticked off and frustrated.)
You could use this whole incident as a jumping off point for some real heart-to-heart talk with your husband. Can you two talk calmly about your relationship? Have you told him how you feel? Do you feel ignored, neglected, undervalued, unappreciated? (He may actually feel the same; it could be as "easy" as promising to make a specific number of positive comments to each other about each other every day.)
Here, good or bad doesn't matter. His dwelling on it is a big clue to something that's not working right now for him and you.
Good luck!

Your husband needs to pull up his panties and act like a man. You don't get everything you need in life from one person. Big freakin deal! Is he jealous that someone else does your hair? Is he jealous of the dentist that works on your teeth? Come on! He's acting like a baby. If he was a gentleman he would ask you how you day was, and give a crap about the answer, too. You did nothing wrong, neither did his friend. I'd tell him to suck it up and let it go. He sounds insecure to me.

You should not have said " My husband never does " in front of his friend. You humiliated him! If it bothers you that your husband doesn't ask you about your day you should have told him privately. It is wrong to air your personal problems in front of others. I also think that if that is the worst he does (not asking about your day) then you have a good man. You should apologize to him for saying that and tell him you will be more careful in the future and that in the future you will let him know if you have a problem with him and not tell other people. It sounds like you have more of a problem than he does.

If my friend asked my husband how his day was, and he said that, I think I would be hurt too. It not that bad, it just means that he is hurt because maybe he feels that he isn't adding up to your expectations.

He's mad because you made him look bad in front of his friend. Tell him if he was more considerate of your feelings (he could have asked you on any given day) he wouldn't have this problem. His friend probably ribs him about it.

It depends whether or not you said "my husband never does." If you said it, it is a dig at him because he doesn't ask you. If you didn't say that, then he should just let it go.

His friend made him look stupid, and put him in an akward place. too bad for your husband, let him know that it was nice to hear that someone actually cared about how you were feeling. God men suck.

insecurity on his part, or have you... on the rare occasions your husband did ask how your day was, answer him flippantly because you took his questioning as him wanting something from you or undeserving a real answer because he NEVER asks so why should you REALLY answer.
