The length of a cat5 cable does matter. The maximum length is 328 feet (100m). Your 20 Meter cable will have no problems.

The longer the cable, the weaker the signal will be when it reaches your computer. The distance it can travel depends on the brand of fouter, but the average is about 300 feet or 100 meters.

One thing you can do if the connection is show is to move the router closer to the PC. Rather then having a two meet cable from the modem to the router, then a 20 meet cable to the PC, use a 10 meter cable from the modem to the router located the router half way to your PC. Then a 10m cable the test of the way to the PC. The signal from the modem will be "boosted" at the router, and sent on to the PC stronger.

The max length for standard class 5 cable is 180 meters so you are fine. The speed difference at the length you describe is microscopic.

The length does matter. I am not sure the exact distance, but at 20 meters, you should be fine.

Technically Cat5 and Cat53 can go to around 100m without majot loss of signal, if using sold core cable, if "stranded" prob 30m is about as long as you want to go.

20 is fine

usually one would have to exceed 30 m to have real problems, but I would buy a quality cable, and not necessarly the cheapest thing I could lay hands on

yes and no, it wont efect it until you reach somewhere like 300 ft (91.44 meters) other than that you should be ok. so 20 m should not be a problem. so you should have no problem. i run cable for a living so i know. hope this helps thanks bud.
