It is also very hard for me to poop. Is this normal? I had a checkup at 8 weeks and heard the baby's heartbeat and the doc said everything looked good.

YES its normal try eating prunes to help you go and stay away from things like cheese that plugs you up. and just so you know it gets worse as you go along.

Some pregnant women get just the opposite of constipation when they are pregnant and end up having loose stools and going to the bathroom a lot.

This has happened with all 3 of my pregnancies. I'm not sure what causes it except the old pregnancy hormones, unless you've added more fiber or whole grains to your diet recently (fresh fruits, veggies, peanuts, etc).

Congratultions!

Constipation can be caused by all the iron in the prenatal vitamin. Talk to your doctor about an over the counter stool softener - this is generally safe but only your doc can tell you for sure

It can go either way. I am constipated a lot, but my sister had no troubles going whatsoever with her two pregnancies. It's just horomones, it's normal and nothing to be worried about.
