My cycle this month was 48 days my period was on for a week and 3 days, I took the clomid 50mg pill on day 2 as advised by my Doctor. They said 5-8 days after the last pill you should start ttc because you're suppose to ovulate, but my period is still on, do you think I might be ovulating whiles my period is on, and what cousres long menstral cycles? I am 21 years old and has been trying from September 2006 but was unable to conceive, is there any one out there who had the same problem as me and still conceive after trying for so long, I am on my 2nd cycle of clomid.

I too was taking clomid which I highly recommend. I was trying for about 4 years when I ended up pregnant. But the thing is, not all women ovulate at the same time. They say day 14-16 of your cycle but I was day 19-21. I used a BBT charting, along with ovulation test and a sperm friendly lubricant called Pre-Seed which I bought on EBAY, but you can buy it on amazon.

I was lucky enough to conceived on my second round of clomid, but I know a few women that did end up pregnant after they up the dosage. It can take up to 6 months from what I was told. So it may take a couple trys but relax and have fun.
It will happen for you and sending lots of ******Babydust******

i would give your doctor a call if your period is longer than normal. normally you would not ovulate while still having your period. you may ovulate as soon as a day or two after stopping your period which means that your fertile window could start while you are still having your period. are you also tracking your basal body temp. one lesson i learned is that you should keep having sex until you have confirmed at leats a 2 -3 day temp rise. longer periods may be caused by hormonal imbalances. have you had a full fertility workup.
