I think perhaps you are really asking "Are the Cowboys the best franchise?" If this is the case and you are not talking solely about the current roster, then I would say maybe. It's hard to put a measuring stick on the term "best". They certainly have won a lot of championships, they have been in the league for ages, and they have a lot of hall of famers in their history. My personal opinion is that they are not historically the best team, but I certainly would admit there is a legitimate argument for them.
Now if you are not talking about the franchise and the entire history of the team and are only talking about the current roster...HA! Are you kidding me? What kind of ridiculous question is that? The Cowboys aren't even the best team in their division right now!

The Cowboys are the best team in terms of the Superbowl. They've been to more Superbowls than anyone else (8), and they are tied with the most Superbowl wins (5, by the Cowboys, Steelers, and 49ers). The Cowboys are the best team in the league financially. They're currently constructing a 1 Billion dollar stadium and is one of the most marketable franchises in the NFL. However, in terms of current standings and rankings, they are not the best. Currently they rank somewhere in top 12 of the NFL as they were a playoff team last year and appear to still be improving.

I love the Cowboys, but frankly that is a silly question. The best football team is obviously a team that wins consistently. I like the Cowboys but they were put out last year in the first round. There are several teams better. Right now the Colts are the defending Super Bowl champions so they are "the Best" at the moment until someone knocks them off or proves themself to be better during the course of the next season like the Patriots, etc. The Cowboys are good right now but not great. The question is not what your favorite team is, it is who is best and it is not the Cowboys, not the 49ers, etc. Right now it is the Colts in the AFC and the Bears in the NFC.

The Cowboys still need to prove themselves. They are an up and coming team that had all the “experts” half way through last season calling them the best team in the NFC before they stumbled a bit.
This is going to be a very defining season for them. They have a new coach in Wade Phillips, which the players are really loving, and the fans are hoping he’ll fix the defense. They have Tony Romo starting his first full season.
They aren’t the best team, but you could say they are the most intriguing.

Depends on what you mean by "best". If you mean this year, then no, they are not. Clearly the Colts are the defending champions, but looking at the relative strengths of each team, the "best" team going into the year is the Patriots.
They picked up the best defensive player in free agency, and addressed their only glaring weakness from last year--wide receiver. Tom Brady and Co. nearly went to the Superbowl last year--and this year's team looks to be much improved. I'll be shocked if they don't win 14 games in the regular season.
The Colts are also very good, but pretty much stood pat. I think the Patriots will catch them.

You mean, are and not is? Your answer is also no. The cowgirls were good in the days, but right now no. The have an offense, but no defense to show for it, and with Tony Homo, they won't go far unless he can get his bearings, they have a chance at the playoffs, but I won't say that they are the best. Even if their Super Bowl teams were run up against some of the teams today, they might not win, they were good, but not that good, they just happened to play some weak teams in their days, and got lucky. I'm a Texan, and even I'm not a fan of them, I dispise them, and are one of my most hated teams right now.

Is this really a question or a statement? I'd have to say NO. When was the last time they made the playoffs, well lets see, 2003 and they lost to Carolina in the Wild Card game. In 1999 they lost to Minnesota in the Wild Card game. And in 1998 they lost in the Wild Card game to Arizona. Do you see a pattern here. Not a good team. They kinda suck.

I am a huge Cowboy fan and I am not illiterate! However, they may not be the best this past season, but they could be this season or next. It does not matter to me if they suck for the remainder of eternity, I will always love them and they will always be the best team ever in my opinion.

Nope...outside TX, the opinion matters worth of penny. best football team meaning?...which team have won the most superbowl title? I think Patriots are making lot of splash and noise and this upcoming season Pats promise to be very strong team to beat. I don't think Cowboys are the best football team in my book...
