reformat and install windows 98
Putting xp on your computer is like putting a semi trailer on top of a volkswagen beetle chasis
It may work but the minute you try to do anything as you say it slows to a craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawl.
Either format and reinstall windows 98 se
or get a newer faster computer if you like or must have windows xp
windows xp will not let you go back to windows 98
You will have to delete the partition and reinstall if it is ntsf
or if it still fat32 file format you cna reformat the drive
simple as that

For 2000 pro you need at minimum 256 mb ram. It will work with as little as 128 but as you see it is slow. At 256 you should see a difference but for even better performance put as much ram as the bios will handle.

Your Motherboard will not support a bigger HD, I would seriously consider, buying a later model reburished puter, and the 366 and XP will be worse than a slow dial up

your lucky because you've run windows xp., even if you have a 2gb of ram it useless because the speed of your cpu is only 366mhz
buy a new computer set if you want to see a great improvement.,
if you have no budget just install windows 98.,

you need a bigger harddrive to fit xp. xp takes up a lot of room but it is worth it. the more memory it takes up, the slower it goes. also you might want to ad some more ram

i suggest you buy a new one. you won't get any satisfaction if you have that kind of specs.
but if you're stil cutting your budget then i suggest to make it back to windows 98. and try to run disk deframentation(start-all programs-accessories-sytem tools - disk deframenter) as often. to speed up your pc.
good luck

why would you want to upgrade it?
Throw it away and buy a new one. There is just not much you can do with that dinosaur and new computers have become so cheap.
