That is cold. If you are committed enough to be "partners" and "living together" then you are committed enough to owe him some type of care if he becomes ill. If you don't want to deal with it, then let him go to his kids, but I hope you'll think twice in the future about living with someone. It doesn't mean you aren't responsible to that person at all and I'll bet he has an expectation that you would be there for him if something bad happened. Put yourself in his shoes. If you were sick, would you expect him to help you or toss you to the wind?

Good luck.

You must not care very much for this person if you are asking this question. It makes me wonder why you would live with someone who you do not care for. Did you have any understanding about what your ralationship was before you moved in together? If not you may want to think about that for the next time. If I were him I would not want anyone to take care of me that did not care for me so yes send him to his kids, You would not be a good caretaker for him anyway. You sound like a cold hearted woman!

When your in the mood for sex. but just living together does your partner owe it to you to have sex with you? I cant believe you would ask that question. If you dont care enough about the other person to take care of them while their ill, then maybe you shouldnt be living together in the first place.

Are you really 'just' living together?
Are you also 'just' having sex? If so, then you are 'just' as committed as heck, so YES, take care of your 'other half', common-law or otherwise.

I don't 'owe' him anything, taking care of him is normal.
