to do that, you would need to make sure your mother board can support the new processor.

If it does not, you would have to buy a new mobo. And then, you would have to make sure that that supports your present RAM, HDD etc

Check out the motherboard you have and see what types of processor it will adapt too. Best suggestion is if you have a PIII buy a Processor with motherboard and memory, preferably a P4. they are very cheap and used are still cheap. You might have to change your powersupply in some cases. If you had given more details regarding your system, we could be more specific.

It depends on which ones you have.

if you have intel petium processers, there is two ways.

if you have a pentium 2 or lower, you need a new motherboard. if you have a regular pentium, you can only upgrade it to a pentium 2. Pentium 3 and 4 come in chips so you need a new motherboard. overall, its a risky thing and you dont want to mess your computer up,so id say just buy a new computer.

Chose the PROCESSOR which is best suited for ur motherboard, refer ur motherboard manual for upgradation, then go for the processor ie p4, likewise. the processor u buy should support ur old motherboard. some bios settings to be made for proper working of ur new processor. good luck.
