There is a battery inside your computer, that keeps the bios settings, and clock going, even when the power is off. If the battery is low, you will loose the clock settings. Usually it is one of those coin type batteries on the mother board. Turn off your machine, and open the case, find the mother board, and look for a battery about the size of a quarter. Take it to your local electronics store, and get a new one. Replace it, reset your clock, and you are set.

You need to replace the small silver watch battery inside the computer on the motherboard
turn off the computer
unplug
open
you should be able to spot and remove the battery
looks like a flat silver watch battery
take it out ( often you have to push the sides of the holder or something similar) ( if you want to pry it out use a piece of plastic not metal)
You can find the batteries at dollar stores and at the worst walmart , or radio shack.
Put the battery in
Put the computer back together
Plug in
The first time you boot you will have to set the clock
thats it
5 years is about right especially if the computer was not plugged in a period of time
standard stuff
Probably about a $ 40 dollar repair at a computer shop
Just takes time

As everyone else has told you it is a the CMOS battery which is located inside the computer on the motherboard or sometimes called the mainboard. it is the component which everything connects to. it is simply a watch battery you can buy almost anywhere. you could take it to a computer shop but seeing as the battery is only about 5 dollars tops and it is only changing a battery i would recommend you doing it yourself.

Just replace the CMOS battery on the motherboard. It is usually a CR2032 Lithium battery that looks like a silver coin. Be sure PC is unplugged when you replace the battery.

Your owners manual should show you how to change out this battery. If not, go to the Dell website under Support and you can get this same information. Good Luck

Click on properties in My Computer, then the advanced tab, then on virtual memory, than change the number amount up by 500 in order to see a bigger difference.

It's the small battery, nothing to do with virtual memory or anything.
Just replace that battery and everything's smooth again.
