Becuase our country is the most hated country around the globe. Some of that is jealousy, and some if it is that our foreign policy (Iraq, for example) rubs people the wrong way.

Well, I saw that too and I didn't agree that the audience in Mexico should have done that; it looks poorly on them as host country. With that beening said, there has been a lot of friction in the last few years between the U.S. and Mexico, with immigration laws, free trade, the media protraying Mexico as a danger place to visit if one goes on holiday etc. So needless to say, you can't blame them for the animosity that they feel. However as I stated before, the Miss Universe pagent is not the venue to express the animosity. I hope this helps.

the person that suggests she was booed and was distracted and that is what made her fall is completely wrong.

I read some more about this cause I asked the exact question last night.

The show was held in Mexico. The girl representing them did not make the finals, whereas Miss USA did, this was ONE of the problems. actually, it is what started it. Miss USA fell, but she rose with dignity and continued her modeling of her gown.

Secondly, there is A LOT of politics right now with Mexico. I don't feel it was necessary for the crowd to boo that poor girl. She is not making political decisions.

It started with a horrible fall to the ground and Mexico felt that the girl representing them should have been up there oppose to miss USA.

C’mon, Miss US shouldn’t have won the contest, she wasn’t enough to win the contest, miss Brazil and Japan were better and there were lots of women in the contest better that Rachel, I also think that she shouldn’t have been in the top 5 because she doesn’t even know how to walk. I think people just acted the way that everyone shouldn’t have done it (except Americans), if you watch the show you should’ve seen people in the audience from, Brazil, China, Japan, Venezuela, Argentina and most parts of south America and the world and they did not boo her because she fell to the floor, they booed the country that she was representing…

I only watched it for a few minutes: just in time to watch her fall on her tush. Maybe the booing caused her to be distracted.

I finally watched the video where Miss USA was booed.

The fans in the crowd were a bunch of drunken hooligans who were caught up in the moment. I think they probably booed because she looked like a contestant in a transgender competition. In this instance, while there may be some political unrest between the two countries, I think she looked a little bizarre for a contestant in a beauty pageant who used "Elvis Presley" of all people as a national symbol for the USA.

The reason are the politic issues between the two countries. Last week there was a parade at Reforma Avenue in Mexico City and miss USA was also booed.

Although she is not responsible of Bushes ideas, she is representing a country that doesn't want the Mexicans to be there and that wants to built a big wall to separate us.

You're spot on, mate. They shouldn't boo her for being a "Murrican" (my version of American to distinguish U.S. residents from all the other Americans in both continents of America). They should boo G.W. Bush and his lover Condoleeza "Cheeza" Rice. Politics shouldn't be mixed with social events.

I heard that she was booed because the people in the audience were anti-American.

Um, it was held in Mexico, and we are having a conflict over illegal aliens. Think that might be it? Or it could be cuz she fell on her tush.
