I have recently bought an aquarium and was wondering if two species of fish can live together.

Yes you can. Although most people believe danios and guppies are tropical fish since they can survive in warmer water, they are actually great cold water fish and can be housed with gold fish. Wase will play no part with routine maintenance.

All three can live together with no problems. Danios and guppies can be healthy and happy in water 65 degrees and above.

Just remember goldfish have no stomachs which is why most people feel they are piggletts. they need fed 2-3 times per day. Keeping them fed will keep the "food fights" to a minimum.

Technically yes. But I don't think that's really what you are asking.

I think the key in your question is that you RECENTLY bought an aquarium. Goldfish (fantails are a variety of goldfish) are often sold to a beginner. So are danios and guppies. Mixing them is something more advanced, and not recommended for starting out. In fact, it's often not recommended at all.

Goldfish are classified as cold water fish. This means they can survive comfortably at lower temperatures then tropical fish. Danios and guppies are both tropical fish and usually need warmer temperatures. Can these be combined?

Again, if you are just starting out - DON'T

If you are just curious, 2 of my tanks currently have this combination. I have a cold water tank used primarily for goldfish with guppies in it and a tropical tank with mixed tetra and live bearers that has a goldfish in it (used to have more).

I wouldnot recomend putting the beta with the different fish in the event that they are smaller and have longish flowing fins. if that's the case then dont becuase betas tend to think of that they are different betas, this is intimidating, or they only want to overcome up the different fish becuase it basically desires to chunk the fins. If the different fish are extra beneficial then it is going to likely be positive by using fact it is going to comprehend that this is now no longer the alfa and cant %. on them. The tank additionally must be large sufficient so as that the beta wont be desturbed or some thing like that. Guppies and goldfish do circulate together positive thiugh, they are basically grimy varieties of fish.

Nope! Basically, 'normal' goldfish should not be kept with the more 'fancy' varieties as they tend to bully them. Also, all goldfish get to about 25-30cms long and the 'normal' goldfish require at least a 3ft long aquarium.

Contrary to popular belief, goldfish should not be kept with danios or white cloud mountain minnows as they tend to eat the danios once they get big enough to swallow them (in about 6mths to a year!)

Guppies are tropical fish and so are not suitable to be kept with goldfish due to the difference in temperature requirements as well as the fact they would probably meet the same fact as the danios and get munched on!

Danios can be kept with guppies though, and maybe this is the option you should go for if your tank is on the smaller side. Danios are very hardy and so either cold or tropical temperatures are fine. Danios should be kept in a minimum number of at least 6 as they are a shoaling fish (6 is the minimum number for a shoal). Guppies (I'd personally just stick to males only as the females are duller and you need at least 2 or 3 to every male, then you'll be innundated with fry!) are best kept in a group (if just males) of at least 6, not because they shoal, but to reduce aggression levels. Fewer than this and you tend to get one that goes around the tank fin-nipping the rest and killing them one by one!

Different species can live together though they have to be able to live in the same environment and be able to get along. Goldfish are cold water fish (Carp), danios and guppys are tropical fish. Goldfish are also messy fish and I would recommend not mixing goldfish with anything else. Do not heat a goldfish tank, do heat a danio and/or guppy tank. Goldfish are vegetarians, danios and guppys eat a variety of foods and need more than vegetable matter.

In theory you can as all three will do fine in temperatures around 75F and a well matured tank will handle the waste assuming you do your water changes regularly.

BUT... just because it could work doesn't mean it's the best choice. Yes, you COULD but no, I wouldn't simply because the guppies and danios would out compete the fancy goldfish for food.

no. goldfish and "fantails", are both goldfish, which are large messy coldwater fish.
danios are small tropical/subtropical fast swimming fish
guppies are slower swimming small tropical fish.

mixing tropical/coldwater species is a BIG nono!

if you put them all in together, if the ammonia produced by the goldfishes excessive waste (that'll be poopy) doesn't kill off the more delicate smaller fish, the large goldfish growing up and swallowing the small fish will!

No because goldfish require coldwater, and danios/guppies need warmer water, so they won't mix.

As long as you have at least one gallon of water per fish in the tank, those two should be fine together.
