He is an excellent talent evaluator and could really give some nice input. Lakers dont have much money and hardly nothing to trade so, they need all the help they can get.

First, I would be surprised if they did hire him back, especially since he has said he has unfinished business in Memphis.

Second, if the do hire him back it would strictly be a PR move to satisfy Kobe, which would be a mistake. Why let the inmates run the asylum? Kobe needs to keep his mouth shut since he is in this situation at his own doing.

Third, whoever, they hire/fire/whatever, there isn't much he will be able to do in the near future since they have little money to spend and no real talent to trade.

Sorry, the Lakers are good enough to win the east, but they are mediocre in the West and will be for a couple more years at least.

Jerry West is the face of the Lakers management, probably more so than the owner, Jerry Buss...West was player, coach, and GM of the Lakers in the past...

Jerry West will bring some great free agents to the team and keep Kobe under control. If Phil and him don't clash with their egos.

He cant. With his totally immature attitude reflected towards the Blazers and Supersonics getting the lottery picks, he will not be of any benefit to the Lakers for long either. Look what he did in Memphis. If they do, they will not rehire him.
