You can get information about pharmacy from the website of the Association of American Colleges of Pharmacy AACP.

All US pharmacy schools give the degree Doctor of Pharmacy to their graduates. The courses take four years, they are tough and after you graduate you have to take a difficult licensing exam before you can work. On the other hand the salary is terrific. Many grads start at about $100,000.

Since the money is so good and many of the pharm jobs are very interesting, the competition to get into pharm school is very tough. An article in our local paper said that over 1000 kids applied for the 90 seats in the local state u. college of pharmacy. Many pharm schools require the PCAT - like SATs but harder with more math and chemistry.

You have to do at least 2 -4 years of undergrad prerequisite work at university before you enter pharm school. The pre req courses are tough - chem, organic chem, biochem, physics, calculus.... and you have to get high marks or you will not be competitive for entry into the Pharm college.

There are some courses that are required in pharmacy that might be available online, but you cannot complete a pharmacy degree on line. Being a pharm tech is not very useful in preparing for a College of Pharmacy. it might help a little in teaching you the names of some drugs, but it won't help you in the med chem exam!

This is a great career, but it requires brains, a lot of very hard work and dedication.

Good luck.

Pharm tech schooling credits do not transfer into pharmacy. You have to take prePharm courses at an accredited school. No formal education is required for pharm tech. For pharmacist, minimum of 6 years.
There are no true online schools for pharmacy. The ACPE don't like them.
