When world war 1 was ending a soldier who had been away from his family for 3 years phoned home and told his man and dad how much he missed them. They also said how much they missed him. While he was on the phone he said that he had a friend who he wanted to bring home to stay with him and his family for a while. He said that his friend had no where to go and he would like him to stop with their family. His parents were ok with that and they said it would be fine. The soldier also told his parents that his friend had been injured in the war and had both of his legs and an arm blown off by a mine. His parents didnt like the idea of this and told him that it would be a big responsibility and maybe he shouldnt bring his friend home. His parents said that it would be a burden on the family to have somebody like that staying with them. The soldier then slammed down the phone and ended the conversation.
His family were expecting him home any time soon but he never turned up. 2b continued

The story's ending is certainly a shocker, but if it's supposed to be a fictional story that you wrote, it really isn't a "story," it's a narrative or a school essay. It DOES have a moral, though. Still, I believe that if the son had indicated that he was the wounded soldier, the parent's attitude would have been different. Very few people would be able to care for a person in such terrible condition, even if it's a family member and even fewer people could be expected to expend the effort and money for a stranger.

That's so sad......I feel sorry for those parents and the soldier but the parents should really feel guilty now I mean since they were the cause of it...the soldier comitted suicide because his parents wouldn't want him..but he should have said right away that it was him that was so injured and his parents would have accepted that!!

OMG........is that true?? What a tragedy. It's a shame their son couldn't tell them straight out he was the wounded one *my guess is the poor man was still in shock/ coming to grips with it himself* Now the poor man felt shame and embarrassment and killed himself and his parents lost a good son who was injured defending his country. Now I'm depressed...but it makes you think.
