Yes, definitely.
What it takes is attitude, people, and resources.
They've been struggling for a few decades, but they seem to be focused now and moving in a direction to establish themselves as a major nation in the world.
They are no longer treating their people as disposable resources (e.g. China) and are planning more long-term investment strategies that make use of their people's talents and knowledge.
And they are investing in knowledge. Engineering and nursing graduate rates are through the roof. The boat is rising in India and all are being lifted.
The primary obstacles at this time is the potential for corruption within the government, corporate monopolies and the rise of organized crime. These are inevitable for a growing society and the people and government must work to avoid these restrictive bottlenecks.
I hope they do.

If India is to be the next superpower which is the present first superpower.
Where China and Russia are dis positioned geographically nearer when we are going to achieve better military strength
to win a war against them.
When different citizens of nations are going to stand on Que to get jobs ,immigration and green card/citizenship in India.
When other countries are begging to have your rupee and it's value is going to rise 40 to 50 times more with other nations currency.
On that day we will see India, a superpower.

The way things are going China is going to be number 1 superpower just edging out the US. India will be the third most powerful country. Europe (the EU) wont even be a power so to speak, hypothetically India in the future could flex its muscle and make Europe jump.

India will become a size able consumer but not a super power. We are competing against G7 which have much lower population then ours. To become a super power, India will need more honest people in Centre and State, and implementation of policies on Grass Root level. India needs more transparency and efficiency. only a rising rupee against dollar is not enough. We need more manufacturing infrastructure and need to cater to world consumption by becoming a manufacturing Hub like China and not just a back office for call centres. We need to empower our citizens and bring unemployment levels low.

No. Your patriotism may be clouding your view. India has too many people, too much poverty, no natural resources, no history of spending huge amounts of money on a strong military.
