Take chances, make mistakes. That's how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave. I love it when someone on Answers shows the intelligence to question my logic, it's got a little brainless on here recently.

That is the key to learning. We sure don't want to ever get stuck in a rut thinking that we know all the logical answers. It takes others to point out to us that we still have more to learn.
How can we ever develop firm philosophies if we don't have someone sharing their opposing views? We would never develop survival skills then.
I enrolled in a Sociology class in college, and was raring to go get my inner most philosophies out-in-the-open, and have them critiqued, maybe rework them and get some kinks out. But it seems that class body didn't have the forward thrust mentalities that I had. No one really participated, kinda like playing a poker game and no one puts forth any effort...
Now, that's worse than having your thoughts and ideas nit-picked let me tell ya.

when you are comunicating with someone you have to understand that they may not have your way of thinking and so they can missunderstand what itis you are saying or asking..people have a wide range of tollorence and understanding and if they are opend minded then you can have a comversation that is viewd by many different options and so the chat is flowing and changeable..but if you are talking to someone who is just interested in their own oppinions then you dont have much hope in getting accross what you are trying to say...and as for being put down for what you said earlier then thats a usrural responce as some people dont have the understanding of changing ones mind..but the art of conversation is that while we have a veiw point then we shall always try to find the words to express them and when we dont have anything to say then we become boreing and thats a shame as we are all different and that is what makes us human...and when we come across small minded people then some of us have the wisdome to just let them carry on and usaly they end up criticzing themselfs.

The French considered conversation an art. To a person who enjoys real conversation (not just reporting about daily activities or exchanging gossip), this type of exchange is fun. It enables you to re-think your logic and either admit it wasn't so logical after all or defend it in a better way.

My logic is way too weird to use against me.
But if someone uses something you said on Yahoo against you, it means that they were at least paying attention. And you should be flattered that they care enough to read what you say (even if the sole point is just to annoy you). So it's really a compliment. :)
And many people are too simple to understand deeper meanings and context and stuff in conversations.

No it doesn't bother me. I lost my "pride" a long time ago. Today, I prefer to experience the priviledge of learning. The only way I *can* learn is if someone points out my "fault". And besides, I'm not in here to be "right". I'm in here to learn.
For instance... I believe this particular question "should have" been asked in the proper section...

I'm man enough to listen to criticism, whether that is from my past answers or not. What does bother me on this site are "arrogant do-gooders", who simply believe there liberal opinions are right and the rest of us have old-fashioned, bigoted draconian views. This wouldn't piss me off so much if there had the decency to 'criticise', but they don't, they simply report your views for not being the same as theirs. We must consider opposing views, it's what separates us from primates and hippies

it makes me want to find out more, do more research so that i can hopefully confirm my view/s!
if the critisism is rational and offers open discussion, then that is a good thing.
if it aggressive or negative critisism, then i tend to ignore it and makes me realise how tunnel-visioned and closed minded some peopel are - thats what bothers me the most!
