It sure has beautiful cities but the most important things are:
1-The French Revolution and the Declaration of rights of man and Citizen-(This had an impact on the whole world and theres a lot of things we have to be thank it for)
2-Its Legislation
2-The Eiffel Tower
3-Its Cuisine
4-Napoleon Bonaparte
5-Art

Well for being the country of Romance of course (besides Italy)! Most parts of Southern France are absolutely beautiful. Try going to the less known parts, they are the best. I would, however, go to Paris.

the best wine in the world, and the only champagne, the eiffel tower, notre dame, the pompidou centre and the sacre couer, food generally, especially cheese, pate, garlic and being the inspiration for every decent chef in the world. winning the world cup, napoleon, joan of arc, le corbusier, debussi, renault, citroen, manet, monet, matisse, thierry henry, charles de gaulle, patrick vieira, le resistance, sacha distel, having rubbish pop music (and banning everyone else's)

I would say, many things, such as its beautiful cities and villages, its wines, its scenery, its cuisine....I've been there a couple of times and I really like it. Oh, yeah, and gorgeous women, too!
