ok 8x^2+6x-5.
you it going to be in two brackets ( )( ).
to find it you can use the cross method.
a b
X
c d

so (a x c) should equal 8x^2 and (b x d) should equal -5.
And (a x d) + ( b x c) sholud equal to 6x.
the answer that goes in the brackets (2x-1)(4x+5).

hope this helps you.

The trick is to figure out the factors of 5 and 8 that when mulutplied together and then added or subtracted equal 6. In other words, the cross-product has to add to +6

So, the factors of -5 are either +5 and -1 or -5 and +1. (That's because it is prime). The factors of 8 are (-1,-8), (1,8) (-2, -4) and (2,4)

Now, if you multiply 5 and 2, you get 10. If you multiply -1 and 4, you get -4. 10-4 is 6 so, you now know which factors will work.

So, you get: (2x-1)(4x+5)

A quadratic equation with real (or complex) coefficients has two (not necessarily distinct) solutions, called roots, which may be real or complex, given by the quadratic formula:

[-b+/-√(b^2-4ac) ] /2a
Here a=8, b=6 and c=-5
sustituting
the roots are
[-6+√(6^2-4x8x-5)]/2x8 and [-6-√(6^2-4x8x5)]/2x8
[-6-√(36+160)]/16 and[-6+√(36+160)]/16
[-6-14]/16 and [-6+14]/16
-20/16 and 8/16
-5/4 and 1/2
X = -5/4 or 1/2

Factors are (4X +5) and (2X-1)

First step is to find factors for 8x²
Try 4x and 2x:-
(4x----).(2x------)
Now require factors of - 5 that combine with 4x and 2x to give + 6x
Try + 5 and - 1
(4x + 5).(2x - 1) which is correct (10x - 4x = 6x)
Check
4x.(2x - 1) + 5.(2x - 1)
= 8x² - 4x + 10x - 5
= 8x² + 6x - 5 as required.

Since 5 is prime, factor will look like this:

(_ + 5)(__ - 1) ( Since 6x is positive, it is likely that the larger integer will also be positive)

Try (4x + 5)(2x - 1)

8x² + 6x - 5 = 0

8x²- 4x + 10x - 5 = 0

4x(2x - 1) + 5(2x - 1) = 0

(4x + 5)(2x - 1) = 0

- - - - - - - -s-
