We named our son Ayden Cooper, but we know a lot of other people with girls named Aidan too. I just want to get an idea of how other people feel about the name. So, BOY or GIRL?

As for the spelling, we went with this spelling because I'm Amy, and my husband is Andy. It went alone well with our names.

The boy's and girl's name Ayden \a(y)-den\ is a variant of Aidan.
The baby name Ayden sounds like Aden, Aydin, Aydan, Aiden and Auden. Other similar baby names are Ayren, Ayken, Alden, Arden and Ryden.
Ayden is a very rare male first name and a very rare surname (source: 1990 U.S. Census).
But I have seen both sexes with the name, not sure of how each spell it that is why I copy/pasted the above....

I think it's a good boys name, and I really like the spelling and the middle name. I am actually watching my 6 year old son's best friend today and his name is Aiden Pierce. I don't think I have ever heard of any girls named Aiden, but boys names for girls is very popular right now.

I think its a boys name - it has become extremely common for people to give girls boys names and just alter the spelling in a way that makes them think it looks more feminine (as if this has any effect on how its pronounced)
For example Aiden = boy
but one of these treny name stealers would just spell is Ayden, Aydyn
or Aydin (y = girl to these people for some reason)

Aiden is a boys name. a "y" makes things feminine, so ayden would be a girls name. its a cute name though. Aidan is masculine and is the anglicized version of AODHÁN which is from the old Irish name Áedán, a pet form of Áed. This was the name of an Irish monk and saint of the 7th century.

Definitely a male name. How can anybody name a girl Aidan? Imagine she goes for a job interview and the interviewer is naturally expecting a guy to come through the door
