You are right. God could be a bird also. God could be a animal too. God could be a tree too. Why god should be like a man? God could be a woman too.
A Male dominated Society in Middle east created the image of God as a man. The omnipresent god is in you, in me, and everywhere. You could be the God. But people won't believe. They need the proof. Even they asked proof to Jesus, the forefathers of the Christians of today.
There, in India, every living being is adored as god, even the stones. If there is a creator, then his genes are there in all the creations too. So God can be anything on this planet. Only our eyes are to be open to see the God.

All through history and cultures, people have worshiped many Gods', from animals to trees to people.
But in the 'civilised world', it is a male dominated world. The Church would loose its status and power if it worshipped anything but a 'male'. Throughout history the church has assimulated other festivals in order to control and dominate the people therefore the old Gods have faded into obscurity.
Even more ironic, God is viewed as a white male !

Would a female God issue a scripture like as follows.

God is male and female. Just as human life cannot begin without both so the world needs both the male and female to remain in balance.. Religion (male dominated) has put the world out of balance. Result - chaos.

Don't think so. Mankind was created in his image. Although he may sometimes be viewed as an eagle. As in the OT, "they will mount up with wings like eagles."
