DO NOT HAVE THE TRANNY FLUSHED! IF THE FLUID IS BROWN AND DIRTY IT WILL MOST LIKELY NEED REBUILDING. if it is a 3 speed, could be gov. 4 speed something broke.

What motor and trans? 3.0 with a 3 speed? Shift linkage from the trans may be binding, or disconnected at the throttle body. Metal z shaped rod. They also siezed up inside the trans. Grab this rod and move it back and forth. If it`s not binding., and your fluid is good, look for another trans. If it`s a auto 4 speed witho/d your in trouble, sometimes a trans flush will help but most times not.

Get the tranny flushed, and change the filter, if that doesn't solve the problem look for vacuum leaks! You can look for vacuum leaks first but if the fluid isn't pink it needs to come out, and if it is that brown the filter is probably clogged up causing the problem.
