Not necessarily those specific verbs, but "to be [-ar/-er/-ir verb]" in past and present tense.

ok, i will show you the conjugation rules and also how to conjugate the verbs that you've mentioned.

is using= está usando
the ING ending is commonly the -NDO ending in spanish.

corriENDO ( running), saltANDO(jumping), viviENDO(living)

there's a little problem with were played, were, could be used with (tu,vosotros,nosotros and ellos, so depending of the person it would be in plural or in singular.)

were played ( YOU-tu) =fuiste jugado

were played( You-vosotros/vosotras) Fuisteis jugados/jugadas

were played (We- nosotros/nosotras)
Fuimos jugados/jugadas

were played ( they- ellos/ellas)
Fueron jugados/jugadas

TO Be conjugation ( it's an irregular verb and in spanish it can be SER or ESTAR)

SER (to be, but used when describing something)

Yo- Soy
Tu-eres
El/ella- es
nosotros/nosotras- somos
vosotros/vosotras-sois
Ellos/ellas- son

ex:
Yo soy alto- I am tall
Tu eres un profesor- you're a teacher
Nosotros somos grandes- We are big

ESTAR (to be, but used when expressing the location or the state)

Yo-Estoy
Tu-estás
El/ella-está
Nosotros/nosotras-estamos
vosotros/vosotras-estáis
ellos/ellas- están

ex:
Yo estoi en casa- I am in home
Tu estás en el colegio- You're in the school
Yo estoy cansado- I am tired
Ellos están contentos- They are happy

conjugation drills: ( when I say stem , i refer to the part of the verb that we obtain when taking out the -ar,-er,-ir ending.

-AR regular verbs
Yo- Stem +o
Tu - Stem + as
El/ella- stem +á
Nosotros/nosotras- stem +amos
Vosotros/vosotras- stem +áis
Ellos/ellas-stem+an

ex: (cantar): canto, cantas, canta, cantamos, cantáis, cantan.


-ER regular verbs
Yo-stem+o
Tu-stem+es
El/ella-stem+e
Nosotros /nosotras- stem + emos
Vosotros/vosotras-stem+ éis
Ellos/ellas- stem +en

ex: (comer) como, comes, come, comemos,coméis, comen


-IR regular verbs
Yo- stem + o
Tu -stem+ es
El/ella-stem+e
Nosotros/nosotras- stem +imos
Vosotros/vosotras- stem +ís
Ellos/ellas- stem +en

ex: (recibir) recibo, recibes, recibe, recibimos, recibís, reciben.

Yo Visité. I've never taken Spanish class, but living in Florida there are a lot of Spanish speaking people and some words tend to rub off on you.

is using = está usando/utilizando/empleando

as you can see all end in ando.

were played = fueron jugados

the games were played between team 1 and team 2.

the games are played = son jugados, or se juegan

"is using" (está usando el/ella or Usted (frml you). he/she)
(I am) Yo estoy usando. (You are) Tu estás usando. (He/She is) El/Ella está usando or Usted está usando. (We are) Nosotros estamos usando. (You are) Vosotros estaís usando. (They are) Ellos están usando.
"Were played" - (fué jugado).
To be / Verb Ser or Estar. (Present tense)
Yo soy / Yo estoy (I am)
Tu eres / Tu estás (You are)
El/ Ella es / está (He/She is)
Nosotros somos /estamos (We are)
Vosotros sois /estaís (You are)
Ellos son /están (They are)

(Past) To Be. Ser/ Estar.
Yo fuí / estuve (I was)
Tu fuíste /estuvíste (you were)
El/Ella fué / estuvo (He/She was)
Nosotros fuímos / estuvimos / (we were)
Vosotros fuisteís / estuvisteís (you were)
Ellos fueron / estuvieron (They were)

Note; the past of verb To go (Ir) is the same as the past of the verb Estar in Spanish. The difference is just in the context of the sentence. "You were a teacher" (tu fuíste un profesor) "You went to the supermarket" (tu fuíste al supermercado)

Note; verbs ending in (-ir) as you can notice change their original forms, but you´ll get it soon.
