I was reading a comic book and it said the word Pun. I just need to know what it means.

PUN
a type of joke in which words are used that have a similar sound, but a different meaning.

Examples:

"I do it for the pun of it" (pun instead of fun)

"And how many hours a day did you do lessons?” said Alice, in a hurry to change the subject.
“Ten hours the first day,” said the Mock Turtle, “nine the next, and so on.”
“What a curious plan!” exclaimed Alice.
“That's the reason they're called lessons,” the Gryphon remarked: “because they lessen from day to day.” (lessen instead of lesson)

A pun is a play on words that emphasizes their humorous aspects or their various meanings. Sometimes words that sound alike make puns. I remember a rhyme I heard on a weather station years ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember the exact source, but it went like this: "Whether it's cold, or whether it's hot, we will have weather, whether or not." The wordplay is on the words "whether" and "weather."
