I have a whole summer between my freshman and sophmore year of college. I hate ficiton, but I love to read about space, time, history, philosophy, religion, ethics, spirituality, pyscology, etc. I just want to be in awe, learn something new, and be able to get lost in a book

The Qur'an

If you don't mind reading online, use this website:

http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/

Otherwise, if you want a print copy, then I suggest the Yusuf Ali translation.

The aforementioned website also has other intellectual items.

aw man!! the possibilities!!!
ok ok ok .
go .. if you can find it... a real eye opener 'run baby run' by nicky cruz... weird title, yeah, but oh so awesome book. religious... but not fanatisism to the max. its a true story, like of street gangs and crazy violence and... oh sweet mother of mary.. i love that book.

also... yeah its fiction, but the philip pullman 'his dark materials' trilogy is ext. philosophical .
makes you think one HECK of a lot.
