Windows Vista comes with a hidden cost of hardware. You need a lot of RAM and a lot of processor power to run the made up AERO graphics.
On the functioning side, it does not have proper driver database and you wont be able to run a lot of software (specially games) on Vista.
So, for now, Vista is a good pretty looking peice of good for nothing software. Though if you just want an OS which looks good and does nothing, Vista should be your choice.

It is worth it.even if your computer is not good enough you can disable some of the aero features and you'll save a lot of RAM.About the drivers problem, well all major companies have released beta drivers since February and the normal drivers are being publish this month.I have vista and everything is fine(if you download the vista compability pack from Microsoft upgrade),even all my xp games are playing fine. They boot a lot faster than xp and they have high multimedia compability with media player 11.also it has some new ways to explore the windows where you can do your job faster than xp.
On the other hand xp are better if you want to just do your job without having any fancy desktop and staff, but they are still kind old and really slow.In the end you should decide what windows seem more familiar to you and makes you fell more comfortable.

You shouldn't upgrade yet.
Not all applications or drivers that work with XP work with Vista yet.
Hardware is another issue. You will probably need to upgrade your memory and other hardware to efficently run Vista.
Wait until Vista is a little more stable to get it.

Not worth it. My cousin has Vista, it is absolute crap.
I have XP. it is wonderful, even better than 98 SE.
The ideal, if you have the time to learn to use a new operating system which has an interface similar to Windows, is UBUNTU. It is a FREE linux distribution. With Openoffice (a free microsoft office clone), and Firefox (a free web browser similar to, but better than, internet explorer), it works great.

The simple answer is no, its painful to find correct drivers and why you need to do a major upgrade just for some fancy graphics ?
