Actually, it is the heart that is evil. Money makes an evil heart even more evil. It gives the person a sense of power.
Not all people with money are evil.

It's the love of money that's evil.
Pursuing your imagination full-stop is evil. That's the only place where money lives. According to a website I was just reading, "The self is an economic system, the economy an affective system." I don't agree with affective learning. Economics disagrees with principles in the Bible such as the Israelites being punished for storing up manna, instead of relying on God to provide tomorrow as he had already today. It wasn't that it wasn't believable that God would provide tomorrow, as he already had. It's just that grumbling seems to be a necessary prerequisite for having "fun" even with an aching heart. Why should people be "happy" playing a role on the flimsy excuse that it's helping "everybody"? This is what Joseph Campbell says about traditional mythology and David Hume says about religious zealots. If traditional mythology fails to provide the signs and symbols, then people endure a living death, which they can deal with by becoming a creative mythologist instead, or continuing in their comfortable social rites but with a living death.
Proverbs 14:13
Even in laughter the heart may ache, and rejoicing may end in grief.
James 4:9, 10
Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

It's written that "The Love of Money is the Root of all Evil".
If you notice a lot of crimes committed has something to do with GREED for MONEY. Most evil deeds involve MONEY. It's all about the MONEY. Some folks won't give a favor unless it's something in it for them..offer MONEY. Folk break in and enter into houses, banks, businesses..etc. .Why ??? to STEAL or TAKE by robbery...MONEY, or something that they can sell for MONEY.
Money in itself is not evil, if it is obtained through honest labor or gifts. We need it to survive and to enjoy spending on things that makes us and others happy, so don't be misled.

It's not evil in and of itself. The desire to amass a lot of money is evil. The things people will do for money can be evil. But money is something that ought to be stewarded carefully, because it can do good.

Money is the root of evil. Evil is like a tree, which grows from money, and is fertilized with bad attitudes, weakness, complacency, etc.
It's wrong to say money is evil, because it's only the root of evil, not evil itself. It would be like saying all criminals grow from babies, and therefore babies are evil.

Your right! Seeking money just so you have a lot of it leads to sins! Using money just to get what you actually need to survive is getting impossible!
The modern world is making it impossible to get enough money to survive, so more people are choosing sinful ways of achieving more money just to survive!
If people wanted to hurt the evil of money they'd abolish the credit card!
Credit card people are offering credit debt to high schoolers before they even find a means to pay the bills!
Credit cards and their financial backers are evil and will happily put everyone that uses them in life long debt!
Within ten years if you don't have a form of plastic you wont have a means to spend money! I won't be surprised if the mark of the beast says visa next to it!
