chocolate crunch

530g plain flour
40g cocoa
375g margarine
250g sugar

preheat oven to gas 5
mix all ingredients together until they form a stiff dough
press into a greased baking tin
bake for 20 mins
portion while still warm



pink custard

make up 1 pint of pink blancmange mix.
eat straight away.

The 'chocolate crunch' is called cracknel. There isnt actually any real chocolate in it. lol
Here is the recipe:
3oz marg
3oz syrup
3oz sugar
1/2oz cocoa
4oz cornflakes.
There are yummy!
I am sorry but i never had the pink custard so dont know whether it was just food colouring or what?

I'm afraid your dating yourself 100%, I used to dread some of those school dinner afters. Steamed puddings, remember them. I don't recall Chocolate Concrete, but do remember pink custard. Did anyone have bright yellow spongecake with pink icing, served with custard. I spotted something very similar in Greggs the Bakers recently, described as Tottenham cake. My favourites were the pies and crumbles, apple, blackberry, rhubarb and cherry. Delicious!

....... but pink custard is made with strawberry blancmange mix.

Not sure about the pink custard, but I make the mest chocolate cornflake cakes!
A block of cooking chocolate - melted and just pour in the cornflakes - put into individual cases or on a tray & put in the fridge to set - i think they used to put syrup in at school!
For a really yummy alternative - make the chocolate cakes, but melt in a box of orange matchmakers - mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!

I didn't know there was a special recipe for pink custard - it just seemed like pink blancmange made extra runny.

chocolate crunch-make shortbread but add instant hot chocolate mix and pink custard-add strawberry milkshake mix

It used to be chocolate crunch with ( peppermint flavour ) green custard when I was at school.....I loved it !!!! Not sure if my hips could cope with it now. lol !!

ooh yum yum at my school we had chocolate crunch with white custard i loved it so much that my mother asked for the recipe - i'll see her at the weekend and if she still has it i'll e-mail it to u - mind you i don't think hers was as good as the schools
