I have a 4month old female pomeranian I want to train her to potty/poop in 1 area only like underneath a newspaper, toilet bowl or poop tray. I have read a lot re this topic but none of them seem to be comprehensive, effective or make sense. Can someone give me the SIMPLEST yet EFFECTIVE STEPS to potty train a pup. Can my pup still learn potty training considering she is already 4months old??

I forgot to mention, everytime I lock her up or leave her unattended she starts to bark continuously and her barking sound is quite ear-piercing so I worry if I do apply the crate training she might make a lot of noise or is this just in the beginning of the training?? How many months should I put her in crate-training before I leave her on her own??

The very best, healthiest, and most reliable training is to feed her on a routine, and take her outside on a routine..
However, if you are disabled, and unable to go outside, litter box training seems to work the best. No, she is not too old.
Here is a good site for litter training a pup> http://www.kturby.com/litter/litter.htm

yes your dog can learn. the great thing about dogs is that most them like to learn. the easiest way to potty train is using the reward system. every time your dog goes where it is suppose to give it a treat. small cut soft treats work best. you must also lavish it with praise.
also remember the biggest part of potty training is you. you must be consistant so find a routine and stick with it. whenever you wake up take your dog to the spot and say potty. repeat this after every meal and before bed.
never punish a dog for a mess that you didn't see it do. the dog won't know what ti's being punished for. when a dog has an accident that you did see give it a stern no. hopefully it hasn't finished so you'll be able to pick it up and put it in the right spot.
make sure the spot is accesible so the dog won't always need you to be with it when it has to go. that way they will have the confidence to go to the spot all by themselves.
stick with it and be positive some catch on quicker than others

I've a 5 month historic Pomeranian so i appreciate what you're going through. The thing concerning the crate...The best way it used to be instructed to me is to ensure that the crate is just massive enough for them to turn around in. I don't know why but it works for him he won't go potty in his tiny crate. Also whilst you take her outside simply make an effort and wait. Then when she in the end does go potty reward her quite a bit. Sometimes even treats support. Additionally when so goes potty inside of i'd exhibit him what he did then i'd take him external and inform him that is where he goes potty. Mine is mostly potty expert he goes to the door when he has to head potty. Though there are those occasions that he simply can not wait or i'm busy and he will make a large number but as a rule he does pretty just right. Hope this helps and excellent luck!

I have a pom that is 2 1/2 years old and he still has accidents now and again. Poms can be very stubbon but like the answers above, the are very intelligent and I swear they know how to "push your buttons". Be patient and she will come around. Treats seem to work with my dog. When he goes outside I make a big deal and he gets a treat when we come inside. If he doesn't go, he doesn't get a treat. Simple as that. My dog is left at home from 8:00 in the morning until at least 5:00 at night and most times does not have an accident at all! Good luck.

The good news is that your pup is a pomeranian. Pomeranians are clever dogs and learn very fast. However, they tend to do annoying things like pee make poo all over the place just to get some attention.
The first thing you must do is to NOT let her get away with it. Show her who is boss by firmly saying NO when she misbehaves.
Other than that, the most straightforward way to get her to relieve herself in just ONE place, would be to get the toilet-training spray. This can be found in most pet shops. You just spray some on the place you want her to do her business on, and she should get the idea sooner or later.

have you tried to kennel train her, she may be going through alot of anxiety, new home, new playmates and it may be all to over whelming her. make sure if you decide to kennel train yo u train her while at home also. put her in the kennel while you are at home to slowly adjust her to her new home while you are away. this will also be her safe area and home. talk to her as you put her in the kennel. reinforce you trust in her and she will trust you. just like humans canines need a place to feel safe that will help with barking too. she is just stressed new surroundings and all. keep working at it. she will probably be a very good companion. be consist ant take her out 20 minutes after she eats, before bed and first thing in the morning. if you see that she is roaming around the house and sniffing she needs to go outside. use alot of praise when she potties outside, it will make her want tp please you even more.
