Yo-Yo dieting as I am sure you are aware is the result starting one diet then going back to old habits then starting a new diet and back to the old habits and so on and so on. This is because the majority of diets people go on starve their body of the nutrients it needs, which means they just cannot maintain it and give up for some food. Their usual food intake may not be as healthy but at least it doesn't starve the body of energy it needs.

The problem comes when their usual intake starts again because they have starved themselves prior to returning to bad habits the body will store more food as fat and so make the person depressed again and potentially look for an even more drastic diet that will starve their body even more and so the vicious circle continues.

All this up and down will mean that anyone doing this will actually gain more weight but the biggest problems come from the diet itself especially if it deprives the body of the nutrients it needs. Cells in the body will be damaged as can major body organs it all really depends on how bad the diet is and how long the yo-yo dieting goes on for.

I hope this helps

it slows down metabolism and you end up having higher body fat percentage and all the health problems that come with it with every time you are done with another fad diet.
it all depends on how drastic was the diet/deprivation.
