Most of religious christians vote Republican and they are for capital punishment. Some of these murderers are actuall innocent, others have repented, but nobody cares, The State kills 'em anyway. But if a stem cell does not see, hear, taste, feel, or think but could save somebody's life. You can't have it both ways. Taking a life is taking a life.

some probably argue apples and oranges but I think you have a valid point .It's the ramifications and circumstances
surounding both that are taken into consideration . Such as the fear of cloning becoming a nightmare other than that it's probably just political as their is little to gain politically from stem research as the polls are the result of the demographic of a majority of superstitious people in a culture or society still in it's adolescence. follow the the numbers and what the powers that be have to gain.the process has little to do with integrity or practical thinking.

Are you absolutely sure that "most religious chrisitans vote Republican?" And, just because someone may vote republican, doesn't mean they believe in everything the rep. party stands for. Possibly, they think it's the lesser of the two evils. Also, a stem cell can be derived from living tissue that has never been, nor will it ever be, a human life- stem cells can be taken from umbilical cord blood- but that blood is never going to be a person. Using those cells is not taking a life. Do you still think that is wrong?

Referencing State, Govt., etc. Stem Cell Research or Capital Punishment.
The same applies as to Why Abortion is NOT against the law ( Kill the Person before they're born), but Killing a Person after they're born is considered Murder and you go to jail for life or face execution.
It's up to the State law where you reside or commit the crime.

By the way...it's no such thing as an INNOCENT MUDERER.

Killing the innocent and killing the guilty are not equivalent - the first is a crime, the second, when done by the state, is justice.

Of course that is also why we have to make sure those that we do execute are indeed guilty.

As for stem cell research, many Republicans favor it, as long as it is adult stem cell research - the cells are taken from adults without killing the adults - as opposed to embryonic stem cell research which involves destroying embryos to get the stem cells. So far only adult stem cell research has yielded any results, so it's strange that Democrats keeping pushing for embryonic stem cell research.

Capital punishment was instituted - ordered - by God [viz. Genesis 9:6] to protect the weak and the innocent in society, from the strong and the vicious who would prey upon them. [Deuteronomy 19:20, Exodus, Leviticus &c.]

It was originally the responsibility of government in God-fearing society to perform [Romans 13:4].

Both (responsible government, and God-fearing society) have now essentially vanished; and with them, capital punishment (as the normal course of justice).

Medical research is using humans - to the Christian, made in the image of God - for experimentation. If things "go wrong" man has tampered with (literally, played with the living souls of) his fellow human beings.

Experimentation on unborn human beings is a far cry from judicially removing unrepentant, vicious predators from a society in which they have proven an unwillingness to show consideration from innocent people around them.

I suggest to you that experimentally taking the life of an innocent victim, is NOT the same as judicially taking the life of an unrepentant murderer.

Sincerely,
Philip Livingstone

i'm a Christian and that i'm no longer against stem cellular examine. Why would everyone be against examine that would desire to grant a man or woman who has a spinal twine harm a large gamble to stroll and have a common existence back. Who am I to declare what it relatively is utilized for? What i'm against is the ideas-set that abortions are ok because of the fact they use the fetuses for the examine and not without postpone it relatively is translated into it being okay to kill one existence to help yet another. Stem cellular examine isn't based on aborted fetuses. Stem cells are ample in amniotic fluid, placental sacks and umbilical cords, all of that are many times disposed of after the beginning. Aborted fetus should not be harvested for examine, yet fairly us those issues that don't fee a human existence it relatively is my opinoin on the priority of stem cellular examine.

Hummm stem cell research is perfectly legal in the USA. There are legal prohibitions on:

Using a "left over" in vitro fertilization embryo without the parent's consent.
Funding research with FEDERAL tax dollars

ANYONE who wishes to MAY donate IVF embryos for research, but CANNOT BE REQUIRED to do so. A SIGNIFICANT amount of embryonic stem cell research is ongoing, though THE MAJORITY OF SCIENTISTS (EVEN SOME DIRECTLY INVOLVED IN THAT RESEARCH) DO NOT THINK THAT IT WILL PROVE WORTHWHILE. The research is a POLITICAL "hot potato" and has been MISREPORTED by the press.

- The biotechnology firm that comes up with a WORKING "cure" for ANY of the disorders touted in the popular media as being possibly cured by embryonic stem cell research would suddenly rival Microsoft in value, HOWEVER, THEY ARE NOT HEAVILY FUNDING RESEARCH IN THAT DIRECTION BECAUSE THEY DON'T THINK IT WILL WORK.

WHY SHOULD TAX DOLLARS BE DIRECTED TO RESEARCH WHICH THE BEST SCIENTISTS ON THE PLANET DO NOT BELIEVE WILL WORK?

Abortion of innocent baby's is murder not capital punishment. How do you know some of the child molesters are innocent? They have been found guilty in a court of law. What damn difference if they have repented? Child molesters, rapist and murders deserve no mercy. I am not a Christian I am an Atheist and I say fry the Bastards. BB

I'm not happy with either political party on these issues. I don't believe in abortion, capital punishment or stem cell research & in a perfect world there would be a political party against these. Since there isn't, I make my decision who to vote for on other issues......just like most Christians who are against these things.

You have overlooked one important point about the death penalty.

Every adult knows about it and which crimes can lead to it. The death penalty is only used on sane adults. Any time the death penalty is put into practice, the person ultimately responsible for it is the person being executed because he is the one who committed the initial crime.

The death penalty in the US is essentially a form of delayed suicide. Anyone who wants to avoid it can easily do so.

The only people it is used on are those with a blatant disregard for life. Such people need to be removed from society. Since the world has limited resources, feeding and housing a criminal for life means that other people (such as starving children in Africa who have committed no crime) must die.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with the death penalty being used to kill the most violent people on the planet when they volunteer to have it happen to them by killing someone else.
