I am female and passed first time. My husband could not believe it, it took him three attempts. I also had the examiner with the worst failure rate in the town. After the test I was so wound up I could not stop talking. The best thing to do I found was sit in the driving seat and say to your self " I have as mich right as anyone to be on the road. I can do better than a lot of people that have passed the test" Good luck for today fingers crossed.

Yes I did, fortunately. During my test, the examiner said that, within the next few minutes, he would smack the dashboard with his clipboard and I should perform an emergency stop (you know, like they do), so, for the rest of the test, I was waiting, poised...and the bloke never did it! He must have forgot.
Back when I took my test, there was no written exam, just a few verbal questions at the end. I fluffed one of them, but he gave me an opportunity to correct myself.
Don't be too nervous. Examiners can be okay.

I'm female, passed first time.
I would say take your time on the test. Don't rush it, it's not a race. Just take it nice and steady and calmly. It's the little things that you do that add up to make a difference, so....
...
....keep using your mirrors, glance up and look at the rearview mirror A LOT, also repeatedly check your side mirrors before manoevring and don't forget to glance over your shoulder when pulling out.
....take your time and give other people time. If you see someone on or very close to a zebra (as if they may jump out) ease back, give them plenty of time to cross.
....don't let anyone else fail this for you, it is so easy to do. If someone is being a jerk, trying to zoom round you, then slow down, let them go.
....similarly if the road is narrow and someone is coming down towards you, ease up, pull in to one side, let them come through, then go up the road yourself. No point making things harder for yourself!
....finally, re the 3 point turn (this is REALLY) important, when you pull over the the left at the start, make sure there are no lampposts or trees on the roadside where you pull over. Take your time. Look around. Make sure no one is around, signal, check again, pull over to the right side of the road as smoothly as you can, turning the wheel HARD right. As you almost get over to the other side, turn the wheeL HARD round to the left. Check around for people again. If anyone is coming through, let them go. Check mirrors etc again, then reverse back.
If at any time you feel you have made a mistake, be kind to youself. you are allowed little mistakes you know, so don't let a little mistake turn into a big failure.
You can do this. You know you can. Get out there girl and show them!

I did, I studied hard, especially for the vision test. I am a male. When I took the test you were not allowed to drink before or during the test. Seat belts were also suggested as recommended equipment in the car.

Male.
Motorcycle test - first time.
Car - first time. (NB Had a genuine emergency stop when a load of beer barrels fell off a trailer just as I was about to pass. But the examiner _still_ gave me a 'test stop'!
IAM (Advanced test) - first time.
Good luck on your test today... try to relax, think ahead, and remember your instructor's advice. You've been given some very good pointers to success above, too.

Yes, I did. I am female.
Take your time, don't worry too much, don't take any risks by trying to 'squeeze' past cars etc and you will be fine.
Most people who pass think they were not ready to - but remember this is just the beginning of learning to drive, once you have passed you will continue to learn in many different ways as you will come across things you haven't actually done yet but you will have the ability to put the skills you have learned into practise - that will get you out of sticky situations!
Good luck, I shall keep my fingers crossed for you!

Yes to all tests--car,motorcycle.lorry,bus, tank. (oops giving my age away now).
Try not to worry the examiner will want you to pass as there is far less paperwork for him/her to complete. Remember, you start off with a clean sheet so the rest is up to you.
Assuming you can drive ok, then the best advice I can give is to listen to the examiner at the start of the test, this will give you chance to get used to his voice and also a stranger sitting next to you.
Best of luck and remember its not the end of the world even if you are not successful.

Funny isn't it, how people who fail always blame someone else?
Don't panic, if you're good enough you'll pass, simple as that. And you must be good enough or your instructor wouldn't have suggested it. The examiner isn't out to get you, they have no quotas to fulfil, despite rumours to the contrary.
Just take some deep breaths, and drive as you've been taught.
Good luck & enjoy our driving.
I passed all my tests first time - male.

I passed my theory 1st time and no I passed my pratical on my 4th, only because I changed test centre's. I done that because the test routes were horrendous, even my instructor said!
I took Calm's on my last test because I was soooo nervous and had my instrutor in the car with me and I passed.
Good Luck

No, I hit a tree. I am a really bad driver though and still don't have my licence after 13 years of trying on and off. If you fail don't worry. You will never be as bad as me. I've crashed 5 times while learning and most of my friends keep off the roads if they know I am learning that day.
