scriptures.lds.org or you can request one be mailed to you at mormon.org and that's really cool that you are interested in learning about other religions. i think when we take that approach to learn more about others and understand their beliefs instead of judging them without even knowing if our ideas are correct we would all have a lot more respect for eachother. it's people like you that take that initiative that make this world more tolerable! :) so thanks:)

Borrow the book at the library. Books are portable, use no electricity, and take up no bandwith. You even read it in bed without a laptop.
If you get a free book from the missionaries, you'll feel obligated to hear the 'message', and this will take away from your reading enjoyment.
I suggest getting a copy of the 1830 version. There are no verse numbers and reads a little more like a novel. Not a great novel, but there's a story line. It's no too much different than the new ones, except for a few minor insertions and deletions of a few phrases.
You do not learn much about the church from the BoM. Most of the doctrine is contained in the Pearl of Great Price/Doctrine of Covenants. Also, the doctrine is inextricably intertwined with their early history, politics, and being in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
There's an awful lot of reading that should accompany the BoM.

You can get a free copy at www.morom.org. Its a great STORY. It explains were the indians come from and were Jesus was suppose to have gone (instead fo the Bossom of Abraham) for the three days before he rose from the dead. And some indians believe this stuff because of the great white spirit int heir religion. But Harry Potter is a great story to, both were devised by witchcraft.

Not worth your time. If you want to know the Book of Mormon you should pretend like you are interested in converting and have missionaries come over to your house and explain it to you. They will give you all sorts of background information that helps to know the book really well.
