When you have many health problems, it's normal for an insurance company to turn you down. And unfortunately it is legal.

You might want to try a chiropractor, many are willing to work with you on a payment plan or reduce the cost based on your financial problems. They're also very good At treating the problems you suffer from.

Let me start with the legal part - you can contact your states department of insurance for clarity and if you're state does not have a separate dept for that you can start with the dept of consumer protection who can either help you or direct you to the right place. If you are looking for a private policy an insurer has the right to turn you down based on your medical history. If you husbands insurance is through his job and he had no lapse in coverage they may be required to cover you even for a pre-existing condition. You're best bet is to call the state to find out as it varies from state to state. Second it is a strong possibility that you can find a chiropractor and/or acupunturist who will work with you within your budget. Many MDs are now recommending acupunture for chronic pain relief and most people are surprised by the success of the treatments and the lack of discomfort while undergoing them. A chiropractor can also teach you exercises and stretches to keep your muscles relaxed to avoid extra pressure on the damaged area. Good luck.

Most insurance is based on income, so if you or you're husband, or the both of you put together make to much money, then yes, it's completly legal.
