because its too toxic on the cardiac muscle....In the past, it was used as syrup to porvoke vomit, however, ipecacuana derivatives (emetine) were withdrawn from the armamentarium about 10 years ago, because toxicity on the cardiac muscle, and other red muscles (non cardiac) were reported frequently...and we have medicines that are safer and work better than ipecac.

Many years ago ipecacuanha used as cough and cold remedies. Ipecacuanha has emetic effect too. Large doses have irritant effect on the gastro-intestinal tract and persistent bloody vomiting or bloody diarrhea.

vhflip: do you even know what ipecac is???
how would a cop know who is having anal sex? if he busts you having anal with your buddy then you can get him for trespassing.
anyways, ipecac hasn't TOTALLY been discontinued, but is used less often. in cases of poisoning, most bottles or MSDA will say DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING because the substance can be more harmful coming up as well. some cases you will be given a similar agent, but to help poison just quickly "pass through"
