You know? Japan was my favorite last year. She was trully stunning and had a great answer. Zuleika was also a stunner, and maybe a better body, but her answer was not as good. But lets face it, a Japanese girl is NEVER going to be built like a Latina. Different body shapes, period. Japan last year had beauty, brains and charisma. This year's winner, hmmm. Yes she is pretty, but a Miss Universe? Not by a long mile. The best looking girl was Brazil, and If they wanted to have a diverse winner, Tanzania should have been the one, incredibly beautiful.

I don't remember much about last year's Miss Japan but I have to agree with the second poster. This year's Miss Japan did excellent. I picked her as one of the ones that I thought would make it to the final round. But I picked her as 1st Runner up until it came to the Judges' questions. Going in to that category I picked Miss Brazil. After they all answered the questions from the judges my mind changed right after I saw Miss Japan.
And then when they announced 1st Runner as being Miss Brazil my mom and I got excited.
I thought Miss Japan's personality was great.

I disagree. Miss Japan 2007 is amazing. She stands out and the judges obviously noticed her. She's not the typical beauty queen we see all the time. She's intelligent, confident, and beautiful.
People keep saying Brazil should have won, but there's a difference between grace and being conceited. Japan has the grace, Brazil seem conceited.

I agree with Stella. It is political crap and I did like Japan from last year, but I am still happy that Miss Puerto Rico won. They both seemed great and amazing. It would have been a close call for me.

i think the winner should be brazil or usa. they have the best answers. i'm just wondering why japan won. i think she should be the 4th runner up. i have read some commentaries that japanese endorsements and sponsorships might have the final say on the pageant. ooops.
i think it should be miss brazil, no doubt. i have miss japan's answer's dancing blah blah blah. is that what it takes to be a miss universe? nah. the worst answer i have ever heard.
im from asia, spec from the phils. but i think brazil should have won. but im happy miss philippines got the miss photogenic award again. ha ha

I would agree with you on last year Miss Japan, but only in Zuleyka would compete this year. I would like to see them "switch".

i do!
last year miss japan was really beautiful and smart. this year i don't think there's really anything special about riyo. i liked miss brazil better than her, her answer was better. i was actually disappointed that japan won. i expected her to be maybe 1st or 2nd runner up, but not the title holder.
