You can't just plug an inverter output into a wall socket.The inverter output would have to be almost perfectly synchronized to the AC line. This requires sophisticated circuitry and switching. Secondly, it does you almost no good to rig a setup like that. Your exercise bike would not qualify as a significant cogeneration source, being intermittent and of relatively low wattage.

Better you should plug a power strip into the inverter output and connect a battery to the input, which you can charge with your exercise bike. The inverter could then power things like your TV or computer.

you could use an automotive generator or alternator driven with a belt or chain off the exercise bike.

hook it to a car battery that powers a 12 volt television.. or lighting, never let the battery drop below 9.6 volts to keep it healthy for a long time.
