Her vagina will swell and it will bleed. Her nipples might also swell. She will attract male dogs. My bulldogs heat lasts about 3 weeks...1 week of really bad bleeding and then spotting all the rest of the time.
The most noticable thing is the swelling and bleeding.

Yes her vulva will swell, she'll bleed, some females are cranky some are not. the usual most fertle time is around the 10th day but I know of litters conceived as early as the 5th day and as late as the 26th so the only safe path is keeping her away from all males from the day the heat starts till several days after all visable swelling is gone. Usually it last 3 weeks but there can be some variation.
Both the males and your female will go to great lenghts to get togher so have care keeping her away from males. (NEVER in yard unsupervised even if you have a fence)

She will be spotting blood for 3-4 weeks. During that time, keep her indoors and away from ALL male dogs. How old is she? Get her spayed as soon as she has ended her heat cycle.
