Dear Laura S,
Ultimately a person's salvation is between them and God. The book of 1 John does tell us that God wants us to be certain of our salvation and He has placed the Holy Spirit within us when we accept Him.
Fundamentally speaking though the teachings of the Mormon church contradict many essential beliefs of the Bible. So i first want to say that good intentions do not make up for bad beliefs.
Do you believe in the book of Mormon? Do you believe that Jesus is the half brother of Lucifer? Do you believe that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God?
According to the Biblical standard established in Deuteronomy 18:20-22 Joseph Smith is a false prophet of God and so i would say to follow a false prophet and his teachings can twist your perception of who Jesus is- and in that sense your idea of believing in Jesus may not be the same Jesus.
Feel free to email me with any questions or thoughts... Hope that helps. Kindly,
Nickster

If you ever asked Christ to forgive you for your sins with a sincere heart, and believed with your heart that He did, and if you are living to serve Him you are saved no matter what your
feelings tell you or what the ignorant and unlearned tell you in Yahoo Answers.
To grow strong in your faith you must pray as much as you can and read and study the Bible which says, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Also as newborn babes in Christ you are to desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow thereby.
Read also Joshua 1:8-9 and Psalms Chapter 1 and Psalms 119:1-176 and II Timothy 3:16-17 which all speak of God's Word. Get with someone who loves the Lord and spend time with them (especially a mature Christian) so they can help you
as you grow in your faith.
Mormonism is a deception with a lot of teaching that runs against Christian doctrine. They teach that Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers (WRONG!) They teach that we all pre-existed with God - doesn't make sense - If we were already perfect, why would God send us down to become sinners, get saved and then come back again? That takes some stretch of the imagination. There is much more than I care to share here, but you need to run from that place and find a Christian church and compare the Bible to Mormon teaching so you can see for yourself what is right and wrong. You can also go to http://www.waltermartin.org and read up on Mormon beliefs. Walter Martin did over 12,000 hours of research on religions like Mormonism and much of it is documented from the writings of the religions themselves.

Hello, now i will pick on that word "belief" just a bit, it says in James 2:19 that even the devil believes there is a God and trembles, its not enough to just Believe one must however
BE-LIVE, one must be a do'er of God's Word and not just give a mental okay and agree thats right, "IF" you Love me [then] Keep my commandments [not suggestions] it is also important to understand just who Jesus is in reference to yourself, in Hebrews 13:8 we understand Jesus has always been in all of time past and in all of time future, in Heb.1:5-9 The Father Himself address Jesus as God, in John 8:58 He is address as The I AM of Exodus 3, Moses and the burning bush, in John 1 He is the member of The Godhead that was the one that created you and this world, He when He did that when we sinned He took our death so we can have His life, and yes He did take the penilty for the whole world but unless you take to heart that He died for you personality that fact will be useless, and on after He created this world He created The Seventh day Sabbath, He said in Exodus 20:8-11 to come apart and worship on this day and this is important because its the one and only command that He blessed, and hallowed it, made it Holy and only God can make a day Holy so the seventh day is Holy not the first day sunday, no where in all the bible does He change that day from the seventh day to the first day and if God did not make the first day Holy [and He didn't] you can't keep it holy either and this is important because to every truth satan has his lie, and it says in John14:15 "IF" you love me [then] keep my commandments, find out more free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

According to Christian theology those are some of the requirements to be saved, another one would be to pray for forgiveness and try to live your life as Jesus lived his. Most also believe that you must believe that Jesus is God as well. There are various interpretations of the Bible, for example, some people believe you must be baptized, a few believe you must oppose homosexuality, the list goes on. Unfortunately for Christians, Jesus is not able to further discuss the ambiguous nature of the bible directly to his followers in real time and in person.

Well if Christ is the way to God then yes you are saved, but if he isn't.......
actually i think even if he isn't but you truly try to live as Christ did, whatever god there is would be very happy with you. all things considered from the accounts we have of him in the bible he seemed to be a very good non-judgmental person who wanted the best for everyone.
as for you being Mormon, i don't see the relevance.

Salvation is not ensured until one has endured until the end -- the end of this system of things or one's own death.
Those that say otherwise are teaching contrary to the scriptures. It is a must to have Christian Good works to the end to assure salvation.

Those that teach that it does not depend upon works should read this page and instead of quoting Eph 2:9 by itself read also 2:10.
